Hydra farmer v 2.0
A while back I picked up a E/Mo Hydra farming build from this board. It was something like this. (Of course you need max Earth Magic)
1. Stone Daggars
2. Aftershock
3. Crystal Wave
4. Armor of Earth
5. Kinetic Armor
6. Aura of Restoration
7. Obsidian Flesh
8. Balth's Spirt
This worked out rather well for killing hydras. With the release of factions I have found a few more skills that work really well in place of a few skills.
1. Stone Daggars
2. Shock Wave
3. Crystal Wave
4. Armor of Earth
5. Kinetic Armor
6. Sliver Armor
7. Aura of Restoration
8. Balth's Spirt
I found Obsidian Flesh wasn't completely needed. Just have to be a little more careful. once the Hydra's use metor you don't have much to worry about. Silver armor is great because you get the Hydras to kill themselves. (About 28 damage to one hydra everytime any hydra attacks you) Shockwave is in to replace Aftershock for extra damage.

Ward of Stability is fun too. Makes hydra completely and totally boring.

In terms of farming... ever heard of Dolyak's Signet? You don't need a ward to destory knock down :P.. then again, I've never farmed with an Ele.

With the Hydras you don't have to worry so much about the knock down as much as the damage it is dealing. Just make sure Kinetic armor is up before you run into the hydras. The only time it becomes a problem is when you get one too many Hydras.

Yes. El/Mo can't get it though.
The build I've been using is:
Earth 16
Energy 15
Aura of Restoration
Armor of Earth
Kinetic Armor
Sliver Armor (as suggested above)
Crystal Wave
Aftershock
Ward of Stability
Bathazar's spirit
+20% enchant weapon. Galigord's is ideal of course.
Put kinetic armor up before agroing. Run towards hydras to agro. When the first starts attacking, drop ward. Then put up the armor of earth, aura of restoration. 9 are no problem, if you can agro 12, it works as well. Aura of restoration at 15 energy is all the healing you need. Sliver armor when facing more than 6 will spike at least one hydra in 13 seconds it's up.
Aura of restoration serves as spammable skill, in case you do get knocked down (5 sec recharge is enough). Energy is also not a problem, just spam any skill (except kinetic armor) as needed to keep kinetic up, at least one should always be recharged.

How does one aggro that many hydras?
If I aggro a few, I can stand and fight and kill them, no problemo, in a lot of builds. But if I run to aggro more, the first ones are likely to kill me.
I have the same problem in all kinds of farming. I'm great at killing things and surviving long enough to kill them, but I'm not good at doing so by running through mobs first.
Is a longbow a key part of the aggro process? I must confess to almost never using one as an elementalist farmer.

Move just out of agro range.
Put up kinetic armor
Run into agro range
After first KD put up aura
Run a bit more
Put up armor of earth after second KD spike
Run a bit more
Spam aura until enough have agroed
Drop ward of stability (or just stand still until they go melee)
The only tricky part is keeping Kinetic armor up between the initial meteor spikes. After that, they'll be doing 30 damage to you at most.

Thanks!
I'll have to try it when I'm bored with trolls and with rune farming ...

I think it is better to use Shockwave in place of Crystal Wave instead of Aftershock. The recharge on Aftershock makes it a better skill to add to Shockwave.

You get quite a few golds out there. I have found some nice Bows and such. You aren't going to get runes.

I used to hydra farm A LOT in the past but got tired of it. The entire run takes about 30min to make the full loop. Normally you get about 10k an hour if your fast and have a good build. If you want to aggro 12 it is very very difficult since waddling around with armor of earth is a pain and hydras rarely give you the opportunity to do so. But as a altnate weapin set that will work better then Galigords go with a FFS with a zealouse hilt and grip of enchanting 20%. The shield will be the collectors CCS -2dmg(enchanted +45health Enchanted. With this combo instead of Galigords Stone Staff you can aggro till the cows come home since their mele attacks will do ZERO dmg to you. Keep in mind though if you aggro 12+ without obsidian flesh you are asking for trouble cause often times the knockdows will keep you from buffing up kinetic.
Obsidian Flesh {E}
Balthazars Spirit
Aura of Restoration
Kinetic
Armor of Earth
Sliver Armor
Crystal Wave
Stone Daggers
