Illusionary Weaponry as of right now?
Did this skill jsut get alot more appaling now for Americans and Europeans?
Note that people that have their pre-order packages are atleast right now the only people that have access to Daggers (The pre-order daggers). Daggers have a faster attack speed than anythin else which is really appaling to IW mesmers...
So has anyone tested IW out using the Preorder Daggers? I'd think they'd make the Preorder having mesmers better than ones not preordering. ATleast right now.

Check out the ogre knife drop. 1-4 dmg becomes 46 dmg <sweetness>. Very nice for Illusionary Weapons

I thought Orge Knife had sword speed though? Not Dagger speed. Or did I hear wrong?

Dagger Speed = Sword Speed.
The reason people say it's faster is because there is a chance for Assassins to double strike effectively increasing the speed of their attacks. Since no Mesmer at the moment can take an Assassin secondary (and I doubt that Double Strike would affect them anyway since they never 'hit' and damage is fixed), Daggers should make no difference to an IW. Sorry.
P.S. Not to offend, but 'appaling' means really bad. I think the word you want is 'appealing', meaning attractive.

I tried an IW assassin during the pre-view weekend. I thought it was much worse than running a Me/W or Me/R. Just my opinion.
Thanks Tuperwho. I don't do calculations but I do like my Illusion at 16 and I also use flurry when running IW. You hepled confirm my hunch.

Thats because you can't have any points in dagger mastery.

I did a bunch of calculations and practice last preview event. To get the double swing, you need to be assasin primary and pump critical strikes (their primary attribute). At level 12, I think this made the effective attack rate about 1 hit every 1 sec. (an increase from the standard 1.33 sec. of a sword, axe, or dagger with no critical strike points). However, to do so, you lose the ability to get Illusion higher than 12, lowering damage per swing. Long story short, I concluded it was more effective to stick with me/w (sword or axe), with 16 in illusion, and flurry (attack every .9 seconds).
Of course, unless things change in the updates prior to release...

I calculated the math out for my guild about a month ago, and I agree with tuperwho that you are better off as a Me/W with flurry. That was in fact the highest damage of all the combos besides frenzy and tiger's fury, but needed no points, easily out-damaging an Me/A with points in dagger mastery for the dual strike chance.
Of course, the damage came out to something like 1.2k over 30 seconds, and that was assuming the target just stood there and took it. . .not exactly stellar.

I left out the e in appealing yes :\
And I thought during pvp weekend I had tested that daggers were 1 sec speed while swords are 1.33. I might just be misthinking though.
I didnt refer to the double strike thing, I knew that wouldn't happen. You'd still go /w for Flurry

Frankly, I thought it was faster than with swords too, but I didn't actually time it. There are a fair number of formative members of this forum (Ensign for one) who have contradicted that though, so I defer to them.
If it turns out that they do strike faster, I will reluctantly eat my words. xD
