enlighten me
This is probably the most over looked tanking skill in the game.
I have never seen a W/R use this skill.. ever.. and I live in Team Arenas and Random Arenas.
The number one reason warriors die is..guess? Degen you got that right.
You don't usually outdamage a warrior.. you degen them..
My ranger pins em down.. poisons them.. hunter's shot for the bleed.. and if I'm r/me. .conjure phantasm.. it works well.
The skill I am talking about is Melandru's Resilience. Yes.. it is an elite.. but it is way worth it have it on your skill bar.
Probably why most people don't bother with it.. is because it is a stance.
And they don't want to give up their precious bonettii's defence for this.
For each hex and condition on you, you gain +3 health regen and +1 energy regen..
With this skill on your skill bar say goodbye to degen deaths..
Say you have 4 degens on you.. that is.. +12 health regen.. and +4 energy regen..
in combination with troll uguent.. that gives you a total of +21 health regen.. say goodbye to death from degen...
I personally am basing my r/w suicide build on this one skill.
Extremely hard to kill.. and deals stunning amounts of damage with my hammer.
The reason people pick r/w over w/r are for the stances and expertise..
sure r/w cannot take tons of physical damage.. but who cares if no melee can land a hit on you with all your stances..
Basically my suicide build consists of things that a warrior just doesn't have power to do.
#1: Ever felt useless when blinded? I remember when I started pvp with a warrior. There was one team that blinded me so much.. I was useless almost the entire match. This is where antidote signet comes in.. Cleanses you of poison disease and blindness.. brilliant
#2: Tiger's Fury.. You don't want to take double damage from frenzy.. and you hate dealing less damage with flurry.. and as a w/r you just don't have the energy to keep tiger's fury up. This is were the r/w really shines.
#3: Spamming energy attacks.. you'd be suprised how much damage a r/w can do with spamming energy attacks in combination tiger's fury.. absolutely devastating.
#4: Pets.. what w/r can afford the energy to go toward pets.. now with the big bm update, brutal strike can deal 100dmg sometimes. Imagine that in combination with tiger's fury+your pet attacks+you spamming energy attacks.. tons of damage.
The Reason you do not pick a r/w
R/W are basically suicidal.. they just do not have the endurance a primary warrior does..
So you throw on whirling and after that lightening.. so that's 26 seconds of 75% protection.. that is where you can go all out with any attacks you have.. after that your probably suffering from degen.. throw on melandru's resilience +troll unguent.. = no more degen problems..
after that I suggest keeping your head down.. as your not under protection anymore.. and are susceptible to lots of physical damage..
take sprint or stormchaser if you need it.
Apply Poison is another one.. do you think warrior's can spare 15 energy? It works on melee weapons and is great in combination with deep wounds and bleeding. And with your spamming hammer atttacks.. you should be able to keep your enemies on the ground for a while.
I don't know.. just something to think about..
If I'm wrong don't flame me... constructive critiscism is nice.
Overall.. there are lots of pros for r/w and lots of cons for r/w
the same goes for w/r it really depends on what style of play you like.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.. and if I am wrong on any of this please correct me. Thank you.

You can run whatever you want in Random Arenas, nobody cares. You'll get taken down by that Ranger, Ele, or Necro built specifically to taken down Warriors and melee Rangers anyway.

I didn't say you were invincible.. I said harder to kill.. degen folks don't expect melandru's resilience.. and degen will be almost useless against you..
Melee however is different.. and once your protective stances run out your in trouble..
that's why I call it. suicidal..

I think your post would get more response in the PvP forum. They will probably give you 100 reasons why it is bad/good.

I'm actually playing a W/R beastmaster in PvE : Ferocious Strike is good to regen energy.

Well, as soon as you switch on Melandru's I'll start running since you'll have no speed buff. Sure you'll live, but it doesn't do the party much good if they have a warrior that can't catch their target.

Bull's Charge I love using it in random cause its the wierdest elite evr. You can easily take down any running (and now kiting) players.

well.. as for the running targets.. I use storm chaser. For annoying warriors I use throw dirt/bellysmash because I use melandru's resilience as my stance.
It works really nice it does. In combination with troll unguent.. most of the time degens don't touch you.
I was the last man in team arenas. I took out a necro and a mesmer stacking conditions on me like crazy. My health down not go down even halfway with melandru's + troll unguent. r/w shine against degen but suck with direct damage.. like other melee.
if another teamate happens to have greater conflag then your set.
I'm thinking up a team build that involves greater conflag + melandru's.
Then your great against normal damage. And great against degen.
Right now here is my build.
Now remember. This is not really a tank. You can't run into battle like a headless chicken like most warriors do. Remember.. even though you have a hammer.. doesn't make you have amazing armour and tanking abillity.
Play like a ranger.. keep your head low.. look for the weak target.. charge in un noticed and strike hard and fast with tiger's fury. Catch them when they run with storm chaser.
Troll Unguent : self explanatory
Melandru's resilience: you gain +3 health and +1 energy regen for each condition or hex you are suffering. Brilliant
Shields up: Meant for when a couple warriors or rangers are wailing on you.
Throw Dirt: blind foes and adjacent foes for 12 seconds.
Storm chaser: Try and kite me now.
Irressistable blow: I like this one. It won't leave my skillbar.
Melee attack #2
Melee attack #3/tiger's fury
of course you can stick in a rez sig in there somewhere..
but this is a pretty self sufficient char. and with a monk you'll do even better.

Regen is capped at +10, so the +21 regen from Melandru's and Trolls won't help much. Unless you take into the account of Bleeding, Poison and Disease, which basically cancels out the Melandrus. But still, you still have all these conditions on you, you can't run faster (Melandrus is a stance, as you said) and you can't attack faster. So you probably can't use tiger's fury if your using Melandrus too.

Degen primary cause of death, wrong, I would have to say spiking and a dead monk are.
Pin, poison, bleed, :: purge conditions, its like a 1/4 of a second cast for 5 energy, and if you have any sort of good boon/prot on your team, mend ailment will rock one of thoose conditions and probably heal me to full. Competant monk ftw.
Precious Bonetti's. I hope to god anyone doesn't use bonetti's when I have my warrior, cause then its irresistable blow ft knockdown and most likely win.
You can't have 21 degen, and that relies on you having conditions on you, If you are fighting a KD warrior what do you do? I interupt your lame unguent that takes 25 years to cast, I knock you down, +20 faction.
Bunny thumper ftl... You are a ranger, use a bow
#1 Antidote sig, not entirely a bad Idea, not sure the casting time, but if its long I will be sketched out!
#2 Tigers fury, like every ranger I have ever known has used this skill
#3 Not sure exactly what you mean here.
#4 Warriors can afford the energy, and if not, they can just have a pet as another target.
I am just playing devils advocate buddy I like the ideas, just trying to find holes for you to patch up. Keep it comin, but I would suggest you post over in PVP.

Ah yes thank you for that last post Amsterdam.
I'm finally starting to get what r/w are actually for
You could almost call the assasins.
They have no endurance.
With their pet and massive fast hammer attacks you can finish someone extremely quickly.
I died within 7 seconds to one in RA... I was so suprised.. I even had whirling defense on.
Grrr rigor mortis
