Default Beginning Memsers Journal

I thought I would share my journal of starting a Mesmer. There is a thread few threads down andthis is my first time playing a non caster combat class.

So the idea I had was to do a Me/N for PvE/PVP/GVG and would be nice.

So the creation of Maestro Domiz began. He was a nice lvl 1

I started my advewnture and got my first skills. Empathy is the best skill. Ether feast isnt bad. So after killing some scale I sat back and said " Wow. Mesmers are amazing!" So with the addition of Conjure phantasm for another great skill then getting backfire and shatter delusion ( whihc neither are great) I had my mantra of skills and of course the manadatory rez sig. I did a few quest and got to level 3. My second proffesion choice is coming up and my choice right now seems to be Necro. But that might just change. Ill update as move along.

What ive learned.
All my armor is lvl5
Watch your health as its not as high as a rangers or warrior and has low armor.
Energy is not in mega abundance but the +4 scroll i found(my first drop) has helped.
Only 5 skills kinda sucks.

First and foremost, welcome to being a Mesmer!

A Mesmer is a caster class. Most of what you will be doing as a Mesmer is casting spells.

With high enough Domination both of these skills are actually pretty good, particularly in PVE where enemies will continue to cast through Backfire. In PVP, Backfire can be used to scare someone from casting, although it is somewhat expensive and falls easily to Holy Veil-age. Shatter Delusion is great with Phantom Pain as it deals some damage and results in the target having a Deep Wound.

I really don't understand this one. Your health is a function of your Level (and equipment, runes, etc), NOT a function of your profession. A Level 5 Warrior and a Level 5 Mesmer will have exactly the same amount of health (assuming all other things being equal).

The only profession that will have more energy than a Mesmer is an Elementalist (assuming he/she put points into Energy Storage). Monk, Necro and Mesmer start with the same base energy pool. +4 energy regen is the maximum you can have without using certain enchantments/hexes. You will also find that the Mesmer's Inspiration Magic line provides some of best energy management skills in the game. In short, when it comes to energy amount and energy management, a Mesmer is pretty much as good as it gets

Good luck!

Sorry aobut the caster meant combat got cuaght up and will edit

So Logged on for an hour before work and worked on a few small quest did the monk mission and the Necro minion. The necro skills were nice but the monk skills meant I could hex and degen them while buffing me and my team. Plus skills like retribution and emapthy stacked will hurt people.

So my second is monk. I didnt want to do the avarege and i dont think that me/mo is avg and I may start another mes and try it with necro and see which one works more. Also picked up a new wand and a nice deadly cesta. Tonight ill get some good play time in.

I believe ME/N and ME/MO are the most common combinations for Mesmer primaries, especially in PVE. ME/MO is very popular because you can cut down the casting time of resurrection spells (known as "Rezmer"). ME/MO can be a great secondary healer/protection monk in a team.
