Why do ED mesmers get no love Personally I like them because they win, and I like winning. I dislike playing IW mesmers because they suck.

Basically any mesmer which has an active, powerful, piss-the-other-guy-off style, I like. For example, roaming interupters, glyph mesmers with multiple tasks, ED-modded with diversion, illusion warrior hate, etc. Those builds are hard to play because they require attention, experience, and skill.

Hate:

Degen
Interrupt
(If I do Interrupt I like Rangers (not a RANGER PLUG or anyting) and its not the place for discussing which is better...just a matter of having the Ranger and wanting to do something with him!)
Degen
and
Degen

Love:

50/50 Caster/Warrior hater build.

I hate migraine interrupt because that is what i play and when it happens to me i get very angry. The ability to annoy people is awsome!

i like doing anything but interrupting on a mesmer. power spike is great, but the other ones have a very long recharge time. i like interrupting more with a ranger, as they have faster recharging times.

*note, this post isn't meant to bash mesmers in anyway, so if your easily offended by someone saying a particular class can do something more effectively, don't read the rest of this post.

Necro's are pretty good at interupts actually... though, Me/N would probably be the best interupter in my books.

I've actually yet to find a mesmer build that I hate playing (unless it's random skills popped into the skill bar!). Rezzmer does get boring, but that doesn't mean you have to stand around during the attacks and wait for the minions to die in order to do anything.

Interupting=fun
e-denial=fun
anti-tank=fun
IW=fun (I find it fun anyway)
hex spiker=fun
degen=fun (though I find nec's to be more effective here)

So Mesmer=fun.

though to be fair, I don't pvp much, so I don't e-denial much.

Recovery empathy is crazy, each empathy has a potential of nearing 500~ damage/20s, and every 5 seconds recast? In pure melee areas? Move over eles, real damage coming through!

Quoted for truth. This is a great skill - it was a bit pricy at 15 eenrgy a use, but I managed, and down to 10 it's super. If you run it with some good energy regen stuff you can really pound out the spells. Dropping recharge on Power Drain, Spike and Leak is nice The limiting factor is that you need high fast casting, and you can only really grab two other strong attributes that way. (You can try for 3 others but *I* end up spread thinly, as I like a good fastcasting)

Wrath of God 2WW
Sorcery
Destroy all creatures.
(Alternate text: Bury all creatures.)

The M:tG card. The PWNAGE. But I think PvP people whould be smart enough. Of course, in PvE...this is a WoG. x (10 to the power of X, where X>30000)

Ok so I forgot the exact cost I'm a blue player.

And of course I meant PvE! I'm only semi-decent at PvP

Although in PvP, we are Armaggedon. Energy (mana) drainage!

We share so many similarities.

I'm also a blue player.
I'm also semi-decent in PvP.
I'm also a big fan of the Mesmer class.

Now, isn't that just great coincidence? Or is it just Blue players tend to gravitate to Mesmers since it's about the same?

As for being a drainer......mesmers are the best... but you don't see much demand for them unless you are talking pvp.. but for pve good luck finding a group

If you wanna be a dmg dealer, i think u might need to take up a new profession
What are you on about? How the hell are you supposed to interrupt with a Necro? However, you are right that Mesmers make poor damage dealers..but then that's not what they're there for, is it?
Oh, and for the record, I don't like playing an 'anti-melee' mesmer; locking out casters would be a more productive use of your char.

I too played denial builds by the end of my MtG days (started in early 90s with Red/Green though). I loved the colour shifting stuff though, ran a deck in the national tryouts called Doppler Destruction (with Blind Seers and such), made it pretty far, but didn't qualify

I suspect it draws a lot of control players, which is whay I hate playing energy burn - tha's just offense. It's a specialised nuker really, and not why I like mesmers.

I'm no Fan of Playing Pressure Mesmers, I used to have to Play it in my old guild ran a heavy Degen-Pressure build in GVG. But I hate Facing Pressure Mesmers in Halls.

I love playing E-Surge/Denial, Migrane/Shutdown, FC Orders, and a Modded E-Denial sub Prot Mesmer (for GVG)

spinal shivers anyone? (combine that with a rangers winter)
then there's also mark of subversion for monks.

:edit: this may seem offtopic... but if you hate playing interupt mesmers, there are other options for interupters.

Spinal Shivers is horrible in my experiences. Unless you use it...sparingly. Which is hard. Necromancers are not meant to do this job.

Mesmer can load up damage like crazy, too.

Spinal Shivers (while off topic) is a fabulous skill. I use it in PvE, in PvP, you name it. It is incredible. Interrupting someone for 5 or 6 energy? Any time? Necromancers are totally meant for this. They do it better than a mesmer does. Mesmers have good point interrupts, but continual like that is Spinal Shivers job - though it's vulnerable, as it's a hex.

Anyone who would say it's lousy doesn't play with it enough. You simply need a build that doesn't need to cast constantly to make it efficient. Use some signets, use low cost spells, use a melee weapon, anything to deal damage or influence the game without spending a ton of energy.

That's why I say you need to use it sparingly, and not spam it like a Ranger's interrupts. Similar to Mesmer interrupts. (Except Mesmers' have horrible recharge, but some points (e.g. energy drain) to them too.) And there aren't people with the cranial capacity to play it :P

I take back my comment regarding Necro's inability to interrupt..although Spinal Shivers is very cumbersome to use when compared to the Mesmer or Ranger alternatives.
