To put it simply, I prefer using hammer bash in my combos, rather than heavy blow.

How does that answer the question?
If you're playing a conditions build. With more than 1 weakness going around, or cover conditions to your weakness, then this skill works better than hammer bash, does more damage for the same adrenal cost.

If you miss devastating hammer you have no knockdown at all. That is a big problem. Weakness getting removed was never a real problem for me, but if my combo doesn't hit fully I still want to be annoying.
But if you go:
Devastating Hammer, Crushing Blow, Heavy Blow, Irresistable Blow (and if under frenzy adding Mighty Blow somewhere) you complete chain RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOs up if devastating does miss.
If you use hammer bash instead, you can sort of fix the chain by:
Devastating (miss), Irresistable (to gain the adrenalin back), Hammer Bash, Crushing Blow.
So you get still 3 hits, a deep wound and a knockdown. unless of course you miss even more times.
The extra damage from heavy blow is nice, but i rather go for knockdowns and if you want knockdowns, hammer bash is superior.

And the fact that if you kill someone already with the devasting/crushing combo, you can't do anything with your heavy blow because its unlikely someone already has weakness on them.
