Ranger against 55HP monk? Wondering question?
I wanted to see how to create a ranger without any interrupts or traps skills in PvP. Then I took poison build to see and go to RA. My team was: 2 warriors, 1 ranger (me), 1 monk. Same thing with the other team. We killed 3 of them except the monk. He was a 55HP and we got killed (our monk was the first to be killed against warriors)
Since my defeat against a 55HP monk in RA, I wondered how you can beat that build monk while you're ranger without any interrupt or enchantments remover. Thinking impossible? So I got an idea but never tested before if it works or not. But first, I asked 3 basics questions to get to 2 skills to counter 55hp monk without interrupt or enchant rem in RA.
-Why they want to keep their low HP? Receive less dmg while under PS
-Why they put Spellbreaker on him? to protect themself against enchant remover.
-What happens if their max HP goes up? PS, proprably, will be less effective for the 55 build.
After these 3 questions, I got 2 skills in mind:
Fertile season and Symbiosis.
Could this works if we keep up these rituals to break the 55HP build?

symbiosis will destroy the 55hp monk, but you shouldnt take it solely to counter those, since they are pretty rare...
fertile is less effective but still gets the job done.
degen also hhurts 55hp monks, but it needs to be ~13 points of degen to actually work...

Yeah, we almost do like poison, set on fire, phantasm and life Siphon/transfer all at the same time to get -13 and more Degen. It was in Random Arena anyway. The chance are poor to get into a Degen team.

Interrupts also tend to screw up 55's. As does direct life drain such as vamp gaze. You never mentioned what your secondary was.

For now, Im R/Mo. I can switch to R/Me if I want to interrupt or use Mantra and R/E with conjure *Element*. The basic of what I wanted to say is to try to broke a *rule* ( sry for my english) of 55 monk. Degen is good to remove the regen, but im sure they use mend or hex remover. But if you go up with Symbiosis or Fertile season, they can remove it until they are out of range or kill the spirit

You might stop attacking the monk. He probably have Mending + Balts Spirit + Essence Bond on him, and if he try to use Blessed Signet you just need one interrupt. And you should have room for an interrupt in your build. I'm not sure if it will work.. The few times i have met a 55hp monk in RA i have won, because my super l33t interrupting skills got his prot spirit(All right joke.. It was luck :P)

Off course interrupt can come with it. Enchant remover toois good... until they put spellbreaker ...... Maybe gale too can help for this.

Gale being a targeted spell would be effected by spellbreaker. Vamp Touch being a skill and not a spell however...

The easiest way to kill him would be R/N with Rend Enchantments. That's a good skill to use anyway, but against a 55 monk, he would be owned. You should be bringing Distracting Shot as a PvP ranger anyway. Interrupt his Spell Breaker, then Rend his enchantments. Game over.

Yeah, interrupt is one Ranger PvP, PvE best friend. But Im not R/N. To bad for Rend enchantment. Like I said before, I play R/Me when Im interrupt. But I was R/Mo during the fight.
Here my build at R/Me to give an idea when I use interrupt:
Troll Ungent
Apply poison or Read the Wind
Distracting shot
Punishing shot
Arcane conundrum
Throw dirt (blind warriors)
Serpent Quickness
Rez sig

Debilitating shot +serpents quickness ftw.Once his energy is near gone he`ll most probably whack on Bonettis, then I cripple shot+poison him, also Blackout is quite effective if used at the right time.

Vampiric touch will get through anything, including spellbreaker. Of course, this means you will have to go r/n and will sacrifice the range for a random occurrence.

I disagree, as with tons of experience dealing with rend enchantments in UW (not that I ever get rended anymore, but I used to) I've learned how to re-prot quite quickly, certainly faster than you could shoot an arrow, and usually faster than a sword/axe. The best way to kill a 55 monk is with life steal, although in pvp most monks will run 105hp builds to counter that. The only fail-safe way would be massive degen, as most don't carry a hex/condition removal.

As a ranger, Hunter's Shot, Crippling Shot, Apply Poison
7 degen in 2 hits and crippled.
Now if he decides to just stand there and get whacked to death by all your teammates, hey, who cares?

Got another one Yesterday. This time, we were 2 rangers (including me), 1 warrior and 1 IW mesmer. I took my incendiary arrows with me. All was good like the other day until the warrior charge to the monk and begin to say: 55Mo (not again). I saw after the ranger use poison arrow (or apply but I dont care, he use poison) so i set up my incendiary arrow + Serpent Quickness. Each times he tried to cast spell, he always got interrupted. Even Spell Breaker was interrupted. The monk exit the arena (Ahhh, I wanted more fun.. too bad ). I think he was pissed because of all this interrupt shots... for only 8 seconds.
