Default So are smite monks possible?

Ive been playing around in pre and I think there awful fun! ^_^ I was wondering if they can actually make it through the game? I understand that I will have trouble getting in groups...What are some skills to look out for? Thanks in advance!

I smited my way thru the game, however, I also got run to droks at lvl 6, and i capped signet of judgement. So then i made my way thru using smite, banish, bane signet and signet of judgement with only henchies. I did heal thru certain missions, such as thunderhead keep, ring of fire and abaddons mouth, but then i smited my way thru hell's precipice so its very possible (and quite easy). Could you do it without droks armour and the early elite? Yes i think so. Its fun too.

Is there any way to lower the time it takes for each smite spell to cool down?

Also, smiting is fun in the arenas, but NOT HoH. I recommend that is youy want to PvP smite, its all about Shield of Judgement. This way, as you get assaulted the opponents get WHOOPED!
Also, yes, you can beat the game as a smiter, but its hard to find a willing group.

You could go Ranger secondary for serpent's quickness and quickening zephyr or Elementalist for Glyph of renewal to decrease recharge times.

I'm currently making one:

Signet Of Judgement
Bane Signet
Banish
Holy Strike
Leech Signet
Balthazars Aura
Mantra Of Inscriptions
Res Signet

16 Smite/12 Inspiration

I have to say that I honestly do not know how and if this will work..

Try including Mantra of Signets. It will let you cast Sig of Judgment a 2nd time, immediately.

And if you want offense, you could put a couple Mesmer Domination skills in there to compliment the Monk Smiting skills, i.e., Backfire and Energy Burn.

I run with Mantra of Signets, Signet of Judgment, Banish, Bane Signet, Smite, Energy Burn, Smite Hex and Backfire. With 16 points in Smiting and 11 or so in Domination, you can do some decent damage in PvE.

I've had some fun smiting in the arenas using ranger (beast mastery) as my secondary. You can use your pet as a platform to launch Balth's Aura off of, or even Shield of Judgement if you want. I use a lvl20 hearty bear for this which causes even more annoyance (besides the AoE) due to it's size...

The key to playing a smiter monk is not to focusing only on smiting skills. You can play support smiter, with some healing/prot skills, or (my preference) Mo/Me with Domination and a little Inspiration. Backfire, Shatter Hex, etc are all very helpful. The smiting skill generally take too long to recharge for it to be viable to go "pure" smiting.
