Ele skill buffs - anny comments??
Just wondering how you comment the recent skill nerf/buff changes.
I'm not that happy, just by looking at the list. I didn't have time to log in and try it though (currently working )
Buffend fire damagers mostly - not that important, IMO.
Conjure fire/ligtning/frost spells - hmm my wheels are cranking seems like a useful spell now...nah, still cant find a place for it in my pyro's skillbar...
Firestorm's faster...only usable as defense anyways....
Kinda sore...but I'll have to log in to try some things out, though!

Pretty underwhelming.
The conjures never really belonged on a primary ele's skillbar anyway. Those are nice for secondaries, and I like that change.
Pyro boosts....to spells that aren't being used....and not because of their power level. Rodgort's invocation is probably the exception. All the others aren't used because of the AoE "nerf". If they are used now they are primarily used in a defensive manner to cause scatter and get heat off you, in that case, you don't need them to do more dmg.
They killed one of the ele/me's best friends though... Mantra of Resolve.
I usually had 6 points in it making me lose 3 energy per interrupt, now I will lose 8. Not debilitating, but much less desirable.

Here is the list from the other post:
Personally I was expecting more. Mist form cast quicker and added some fire damage. Yippee
Elementalist
Gale: increased Energy cost to 10.
Conjure Flame: no longer removes Enchantments.
Inferno: increased damage to 30..135.
Fire Storm: decreased cast time to 2 seconds.
Rust: decreased recharge time to 15 seconds.
Conjure Frost: no longer removes Enchantments.
Conjure Lightning: no longer removes Enchantments.
Whirlwind: decreased recharge time to 8 seconds.
Flame Burst: increased damage to 15..120.
Rodgort's Invocation: increased damage to 15..120.
Mark of Rodgort: decreased recharge time to 5 seconds.
Lava Font: increased damage to 5..35 per second.
Searing Heat: increased damage to 5..35 per second.
Lightning Javelin: decreased recharge time to 2 seconds.
Mist Form: decreased cast time to 1 second.
Lightning Surge: fixed a bug that caused this skill to not trigger properly when its duration was reduced

Its got more spammable, shorter casting time/recharge, and does more damage. The right things that probably need doing tbh. They just need to get with it and keep going... i think this will be a test for the expansion. Buff some stuff (they are trying shorter nukes, more powerful nukes, etc) and then as long as the meta doesnt bend over backworks with roflrodgort spikes then at expo bring out the big guns and make some big changes. The ele class has its fair share of problems, and just raking out massive buffs isnt the best way to handle it.... just test the water, and then make some real changes. Fire spike is looking better and better. Javelin probably outpaces strike now, and the conjures i believe can now be stacked with soh... which is a possible variation.

only buff to rodgots invocation and lightning javelin seem relevant to primary eles. Speels that needed something BADLY were untouched. Overall pretty dumb and useless update.

Gale got nerfed. The buff to Mark of Rodgort is pretty inconsequential considering that the cost is still 25.

Yeah, so I see most agree (me as well) that the update's pretty much useless in making ele more useful.
I mean, ele rocks in PvE coz AI's still AI no matter what you do to it, and that you can always exploit. But as for PvP...another matter altogether. I think Conjure flame buff tried to boost PvP usefullness of the fire-line, but trouble is, fire is all about AoE (ok, that and burning) and there's no way in hell you can make yor opponent stay bunched for 5 seconds...and I'm not even touching the nasty interrupts that just scream to be cast in the meantime...
The trouble is, no amount of the energy cost and damage dealt buffing can make fire line (as area of effect line) more useful in PvP coz it's effects are just not useful in PvP (plus there is such a costly time-to-cast issue). Unless they make burning effects stack (which would distrupt balance, I'm sure). That means you're left with outperformed (by other classes, I mean) air spike or warder roles.
I had ideas to make ele armor-ignoring class, but that would mean you'd have to change A LOT of things - hence another probable game imbalance. Or to change AoE spells to multiple-targets spells (like Deathly Swarm). Another probable imbalance issue lurking... I just don't see solution to this things. I mean, Me/E as an ele because of fast-casting specialty...ANet ppl wake up!!
Sorry if this sounds like whiner/rant shijaat, I still LOVE my ele...

Buffs?
8 more damage on fire skills
And you get to spam some crappy air / water skills faster.
In return you had one of the most useful utility skill in the game nerfed.

If you mean Gale, they nerfed it because all other primary classes used it more than elemantalists did, especially Gale Axe Warriors. In that respect, YAY & W00t from me. They used it to kill elemetnalists quicker & easier.
But on your other remarks, yeh, I agree, crappy crappy crappy...

I always thought gale was pretty crap, if I wanted a knockdown I'd use Whirlwind - and Glyph of Energy and Glyph of Lesser Energy +Eles can have 80+ energy means 25 isnt really much ..
though I dont do pvp, so maybe its a big deal there, imo they buffed skills and the only nerf was a crap skill that they barely touched on.
In fact they buffed one of my favorite skills, Mist Form

The fire buff is nice, but as someone said, Lightning Javelin will also be on my air spike skill bar now. I like the reduce in recharge time.

Uh, yeah, gale is kind of a big deal in PvP. You see, whirlwind only knocks down people that are right next to you and attacking. Gale knocks anyone down from anywhere for three seconds and has a nice recharge on it. That's hardly crap. If fact, it's one of the best skills in the game. You're an idiot.

WTS reading skill...
He was talking about pve, and in pve gale _is_ crap.
Anyway, its not like gale (as well as bunch of other buffed skills) is anything useful for primary ele, so who cares...

Gale in PvE is crappy, whereas in PvP rocks, I agree. Just wondering, btw, since the nerf, how it affects all those Gale Axe Warrs since now it's 10e + exhaustion...And yeh still says req 4 Air Magic, where it really requires 5...
Same thing with fire....rocks in PvE, crap in PvP (mostly). Fire is predominant in PvE because of AoE. The same reason makes it nearly worthless in PvP.
