Default Graygore's Zealous Short Bow: -1 Energy gen, worth it?

It says, +1 energy per hit, but -1 energy gen, is this trade off worth it, could an experienced user care to comment?

Thanks.

+1/-1 isn't good, if you really want a zealous bow you should probaly at least get +3/-1, otherwise the -1 energy regen really isn't worth it.

hope that helps

How long have you been a ranger?

There is no such thing as a 3/1 zealous string. Only 1/1 exists.
One pip of energy regen is one third of an energy per second. So, if you have 3 energy gen (rangers) you get exactly one energy per second. The 1/1 zealous is worth it if you fire one or more shot(s) every 3 seconds. However, the energy is per shot, so, dual shot will trigger it twice, and barrage as well. If you hit 6 enimes with barrage, you will get 6 energy.

Also, the Graygore's Zealous Shot Bow is a Shot Bow and has a fast refire time. So the Zealous is really good, especially for barraging, or quick shot. In pve, spaming barrage (energy cost: 2, with a 13 expertise) and interupts, I never run out of energy.

However, you should have another bow to switch to in order to regen energy faster after battle, or during down time.

Sounds good, I would imagain, when you pull your short bow out, there be situations where you would most likely shooting anyway.

Not a bad chioce, how much are they going for nowadays?

I find that list quite a lot higher then what really goes on the server, so I thought some experienced players might know a more hands on type of info.

But thanks for the link.

Because of the fact that Shortbows attack so fast. The +1/-1 is just fine. Mixing it the zealous bow with Tiger's Fury or Barrage makes it amazing but by itself you are gaining more Energy while attacking than if you had 3 energy regen.

The range on a short bow leaves a bit to be desired, but overall it is a good bow. A zealous recurve bow is nice too.

Trouble with barrage is if you dont have 5 targets, you dont get 5 energy. Granted it only takes 2 to shoot, expertise 13, but if you want energy back and are worried about zealous hurting you, use Wager. 12 seconds, 9 energy gained per arrow strike I believe. And with a short bow, you are in so close missing wont happen that often. Hell, I use a storm and Wager, havent missed yet.

You could probably pull it for 10k-20k, zealous is one of those mods that most players don't understand.

Barrage needs 14 Expertise to bring it to 2 energy.

4%x13=52% 52% of 5 is 2.6, it rounds up.

wtf, why revive an old topic with wrong information?? Barrage only takes 13 expertise to get it to 2 energy. Forget the math, how long have you played ranger?

EDIT: http://www.guildwiki.org/wiki/Expertise

You have some of the calculations backwards. At 13 Expertise, Barrage's cost is REDUCED by 52%. Thus, Barrage's base cost of 5 now only costs 48% of 5, which comes out as 2.4. 2.4 gets rounded down to 2.

But yea, almost every experienced ranger knows that 13 Expertise is the breakpoint for 5 energy skills that are affected by Expertise to be reduced to 2.

Of course, there's also a nice little table on this site as well

Graygore's Zealous Short Bow is a short bow (duh ^^), and a shortbow fires once every 2 seconds. That means you gain .5 per second from the Zealous mod itself, and 1 1/3 from your energy regeneration. That adds up to 2 1/3 energy per 2 seconds. From natural regeneration without the Zealous mod, you gain 1 energy per second, or 2 every 2 seconds. That means every 2 seconds you gain 1/3 more energy from a Zealous mod, or 1 more energy every 6 seconds.

However, that only holds true if you are constantly firing. If you are using a non-attack skill with the Zealous mod still on, you are not gaining any energy, and so the gain is different in that situation. Also, when running or idling (not fighting), you aren't getting any shots off, so you would not be getting the energy from the Zealous mod.

Therefore, if you want to gain energy, only use the bow when constantly firing, and not when idling, running, or using long-casting time skills.

Hope it helps.

I'm not completely certain but I find with Gargash's Recurve Bow and 13 Expertise I NEVER run out of energy spamming Barrage every second.
