Underdogs NEVA
hey yall
well since we get the 2 slot upgrade with FACTIONS i thought ill make a mesmer
now iv always valued the underdog (my first char is a ranger not quite underdog but try find a group were there r lots of monks, wars, and eles, about)
whenever iv went to the first quests with my lvl 20 char who completed the PVE side id always take a mesmer and a ranger caus they find it harder 2 get a party
so i made a mesmer and was abit wary at first obviously they own in pre caus most of the enemies have no self heal, but i got through pre into post and done all the missions in ascalon then went and did the quests.
all i can say is i love being mesmer cast empethy into warrs they near most kill themselves, backfire on eles and then degen to kill them off,
obviously il'l progress with builds etc as i get throught the game caus im only at yakks but im lvl 12 (i think)
plus the mesmer community is so much more nice than any other
I.E was messing around in serenity temple doin missions to beef up ma mesmer i seen a mesmer with 15k armour dyed black, so i asked him to make sure it was 15k so i could get it when i get 2 the outpost l8r (not rushing like iv did in the past) he said its 15k but over all about 100k with the materials and told me some skills to get to help me in the early stages, he was very informative and helpfull
now a long time ago when i was ele i saw the 15k citadel armour (the 1 i got on ma ele ATM) so i asked him wat type it was caus i wanted to get it, his response was
"dont talk to me n00b, F$?! off cant you see im busy"
so i was like WTF it was only a question ffs so i just left LA and went on with ma missions,
is it me or are all mesmers out there of "higher" quality of gamer caus there helpull and well IMHO you gotta be smart to play mesmer and iv never experienced a mesmer to flame, leave a group ever

Don't set too high of expectations. I have played with some truely abyssmal mesmers and some that were absolute jerks. For the most part I would agree that a higher percentage of mesmers are very nice in comparison to pther proffessions because they are used to being treated like crap.
You sound like one of the nice mesmers. Always good to have some more.

That's terrible! I think mesmers are generally more polite because it's an intelligent class to play. I do believe the majority of 'idiot 'players who buy the game assume mesmer is terrible at first glance. Quite a lot of people ask "What the hell is a mesmer"? and i know a few people who chose Warrior as their starting profression primarly due to the stereotypical image of them being a 'knight in shining armour who saves the day' - this image obviously reinforced by the media. I cannot name one SINGLE film where the mesmer heroically saves the day! (though i have heard about a film involving one, but never seen it)
After playing the game it becomes apparent mesmers have pretty basic spell animations/effects, and although they may not appear to be doing much from another party member's point of view, people rarely realise that if it wasn't for that Mesmer, the opposing monk would still be gleefully spamming heals like no tomorrow. But "he ran out of energy!" Wrong -i drained it all
Forgive me for making another assumption i cannot back up in any way, but it would appear the majority of Warriors see the combat system in a linear fashion: Deal damage, Take little damage, and heal. (Not to mention whenever I notice immature behaviour, the culprit is ironically a W/mo pretty much 70% of the time) 'Course this will most unlikely apply to anyone wise enough to use this website, and forgive my frankness. I'm speaking only for quite a lot of players who now seem to be flooding into the game like wildfire recently.

We forgive you. We (well, some of us) share the same problems as well.
Personally I do not play a Mesmer primary, but a Elementalist Energy Storage Mesmer. (I just don't have time to run all those characters through all those missions again...) Sometimes, the odd person yells, "WTF ELE WH1 J00 NOT NOOKING???!!1!1". I respond with "I'm using Backfire on (Probably) Mursaat Monk!". Then, they respond, by a quick "N00B ELE MESMUR SUX", and a leave-game. The Mesmer is a more intellectual class to play, that is true. But if there is someone that - forgive me for saying this - does not have the cranial capacity to play this class, they also give this class a bad name by doing a lousy job at playing a Mez.
Also, the "invincible" trio of Elementalist (Necromancer, in more specific areas), Monk, and Warrior is all too apparent. Any time and every time I go into Abbadon's Mouth, I see 9 Warriors, a monk or two, possibly another Elementalist, and none of the other classes, whatsoever. Of course, there are some rare occurences of a Ranger or Mesmer there, too. Never seen a Necromancer there. Ever.
