My E/me will it work
Hi, im fairly new to the game and just hit 20 today, im making my elementalist for support and decided to try and think of my own build, i came up with 2, both using air. 1 using earth and 1 using inspiration. I would greatly appreciate some input and critique on these builds.
Build#1
Air Magic 13 pts
Inspiration 6-9 pts
Energy storage - rest
1. Lightning orb
2. Lightning strike, replaceable with mind shock or shock.. not sure which are best.
3.Blinding flash
4. Echo
5 Ether feast
6 Inspired hex
7. Drain enchantment
8. Glyph of energy.. maybe elemeantal attunement.
I thought this build would be good for supprot as i would be able to blind and keep my energy up. I thought it was a bit soft and easy to kill also. Has some good spike damage for situations where i mgiht need it.
Here is my 2nd build, its similar but uses earth instead of inspiration and uses wards.
Air magic 13 pts
earth 6-9
energy storage- rest
1.Lightning orb
2. Blinding flash
3.Obsidian flesh
4. Ward against melee
5. Kinetic armor
6. Inspired hex
7. Inspired Enchantment Or drain enchantment
8. Glyph of energy
This build is to survive a bit longer yet still be able to get some blinds and strip their hex's and enchantments. Lightning orb just incase i want to do damage

First of all, for build #1, Echo and Glyph of Energy are both Elites, and therefore you cannot have both in your skillbar at the same time. That holds true with build #2 and Obsidian Flesh and Glyph of Energy.
#1: Echo isn't really a good support skill as Echo-ing Blinding Flash is just pointless due to the low recharge and high energy on Blinding Flash. The hex removal should really be left to Monks or Mesmers with Remove Hex, Holy Veil, Shatter Hex, or other skills. The attunements are a better way to manage your energy than Glyphs are, and Glyph of Energy is mainly used for something costly like Meteor Shower or something that causes exhaustion like Obisidian Flame, and build #1 contains neither a costly spell nor exhaustion. You would be better off running pure Air and Energy Storage with high enough Air to keep Blinding Flash lasting a long time. Also, if you plan to use Blinding Flash often, Ether Prodigy would be a better choice as your Elite. And, I would have to say that Mind Shock is better than Shock, as you don't have to be in touch range and Mind Shock does more damage. However, Mind Shock is an Elite skill.
#2: Having that high of Air Magic for just two spells is kind of a waste. You should take off Lightning Orb, Blinding Flash, and Air Magic altogether. Eruption would probably work better, and Ward Against Melee is good enough for melee-ers.The Inspired skills are giving that great of a return, and I again would recommend leaving Hex and Enchantment removal to Mesmers, Necromancers, and Monks. Again, Obsidian Flesh and Glyph of Energy are both Elites. Kinetic Armor isn't really that much of a good choice, as you don't have any spammable spell That don't carry exhaustion or high energy costs. Earth/Elemental Attunment would be a better energy management, but beware of them getting stripped. I would have to say that more Earth Magic is needed to keep Ward Against Melee, Kinetic Armor, and Obsidian Flesh actually useful. If you plan on bringing Kinetic Armor, bring something like Stone Daggers that you can use every now and then. In all, I would go full Earth and Energy Storage.

Try swapping Echo w/ Arcane Echo. Not as effective, but a decent non-elite alternative.

Besides what's already been said -- what matters a lot is where you plan to use the build. In some PvE places enchantments get stripped too quickly.
But I gather these are meant to be arena builds.
Hmm. If you want to mix in serious non-air spells, Ether Prodigy may be the way to go. Personally, I just had some fun going with dual Attunements and all Air (plus Aura for self-heal, and of course rez). Worked pretty well in Random Arena and even Team Arena, although I probably should have dropped Aura when I started out in Team Arena.
Enchantment stripping wasn't as big a problem as I feared it might be.
And if these are meant to be arena builds, you must make room for rez sig. You must.

most uses for a mesmer second in an ele is for arcane echo, i would recomend not using any other mesmer skills because it is a waste of skill points.

No...a Siggy of Midnight is useful sometimes...although it doesn't look as this is the case.

I recommend echoing Energy surge - clean, cheap and efficient. Much cleaner than using ele elites...just my preference.
The OP didn't really specify what the builds are for. If PvE, what area?
Since 20+ areas are somewhat specific, from area to area I change builds...
In desert/shivs I use fire, in RoF I use domination warder...
For instance, Flash Golems just scream for Shatter Hex damage...
