When you're setting for anti casters, its hard to kill a warrior and vice versa. Well, at least you can use your teammates as a Hex shatter bomb in THK. Its really a good mission to use Shatter hex thought.

I don't know, I find that many players do know the value of mesmers. I've made it to the ring of fire and I've not yet had a problem getting into a group. Having said that, there are definitely players who have no clue what mesmers do, or why it's generally good to have one in your party.
I have a monk character, and in some ways, I'd say she's worse off. Do a good job and nobody notices. Someone screws up and you get blamed. Nobody ever blames the mesmer, since they don't expect much from them. I'll probably create another mesmer at some point to try out a different profession combo or focus on a different skill school. I'm not in a hurry to create another monk.

Well that's a first for me. Most W/Mo I meet are often condisending. Your probably the most humble one i've ever met.

Just catching up with this thread Avarre, you can't have Spiteful Spirit! It does way more than empathy does but that doesn't make it the elite empathy
Necromancers have their own version of Empathy called Insidious Parasite - both trigger off attacks. Necromancers also have their own Backfire, called Soul Leech - both trigger off spells. While the mesmer versions are more damaging, the necromancer ones are lifesteals.
Spiteful Spirit triggers off attacks and spells... and signets, skills, traps, glyphs, activation of stances, shouts... hell, if the victim so much as farts they take damage! It's also aoe, which to me makes it the elite Mark of Pain or Dark Aura. Mesmers have nothing like this... the closest forms of aoe chaos damage I can think of are quite different - Chaos Storm, Shatter Hex, Cry of Frustration, Energy Surge. Now if Chaos Storm stuck to the victim you cast it on, then you'd have something vaguely like Spiteful Spirit! It's quite visual too, so I imagine mesmers would get loads of groups with an ability like that
Maybe Spiteful Spirit was a mesmer ability way in the past before I started playing, but I think it's rightly a mighty necromancer curse now

Forgot one thing, while the target is blind, Insidious parasite doesn't work. Empathy yes. The target must hit a foe to trigger Insidious parasite.
