Sundering 20/20 will give you a bit more than 1.2 dmg/hit on average (depending on your opponent's armor). It's still crap in my book.

Damage increased by upgrades against an 80AL target
sundering 10/10 -> 1.9%
sundering 20/20 -> 6.4%
vampiric 5/1 -> 17.5 %

They should just remove sundering from the game, it really is just too crap and will never be properly balanced. Of course the only problem then would be removing it from existing items.

Well if you're in a B/P group then I prefer sundering, as you can eat and watch TV at the same time, all without the hassle of weapon switching.

I know I have a 20/20 sundering on my composite bow for interuption, and can't be switching between two bows if I intend to interupt say... RoF.
I have it there because there is no other string that would be of better use (i'm thinking silencing now though)
IMO if theres really NO other string to put on, put a sunder. If theres anything else that *might* help you out use that.
all in all 5/1 vamp > 20/20 sunder for DPS still.

You've got to be kidding. It's like the perfect place to prove Vampiric's quality. A Vamp there makes sure you get 30 hp every 2.2 seconds so often. It's so helpful. And your damage goes up consequently.
You could go to the bathroom for 3 minutes without your character dying from a Vampiric bow. What kind of "hassle" is that? It's not like a poison degen.
If you're lazy, just take a Zealous. It works great. Sundering is soooo far behind those two that even a huge buff would still put it behind those 2.

Vampiric wins for sure. its 20% chance for 20% armor penetration, brings it to an average of about..... 1% bonus. Waste of time. Vampiric is an extra 5 damage all the time, so...
Vamp > sunder gg no re

I carry both, the Vamp for barrageing and the Sundering for 1 on 1 type stuff.
I'm a R/Mo so with Penitrating shot or Sundering shot plus Judges insight and the 20/20 string on a 14^50 customized Shadow bow I routinely hit anywhere from 100 to 147 dmg against just about any npc enemy. (147 is the max I've seen myself do, it was against a White Mantle Knight) Every 5 hits or so rolls up +70 armor penetration, and with the quickness the 2 attack skills recharge I rarley fire a shot without one or the other on the arrow so I'm 50% to 70% armor pen all the time.
I love the thing, of course I love my vamp too.

I've been using Elswyths (Vampiric) Recurve recently, much better than Dragos Flat Bow i've found recently. Specially during Barrage/Pet (although i think it brings bad luck with it... i was hit 3 times in a row by a Skeleton Berserker that was blind!). Only reason i had to use my Sundering (Dragos) bow was to just stop the degen for a bit and for in the Forest so i could stay out of range of Shephards.

For interrupting, I use Zealous. No need for Sundering.

I like using Vampiric or Sundering strings in PvP due to the little hint of extra damage. But in PvE, an elemental string can work better for you.

No argument here. Vamp bow wins hands down. Kicking up Sundering to 20/20 is a joke. Sundering is a junk mod in my book that people pay a stupid high price to get. I would rather have a poison string than a Sundering if I had to chose between those 2 as well.

Zealous. So you can use the extra energy to use a skill to do real damage.

I think I'm with Orange Milk. Vamp is great, but the energy degen is just too much of a hassle unless you are running barrage or maybe some sort of Tigers Fury/Lightning Reflexes build. I find myself often changing position to get the best advantage during battles and when doing so, I'm not attacking. Having a health degen or lower energy regen at these times can really hurt performance. The delay in switching weapon usually becomes a hassle at these times and can sometimes interfere my reentry into battle because these times of transition are relatively short.
Situations like these I think are best for sundering strings unless you are running a poison build.

Let's say you took 15 seconds to reposition... which must be the equivalent of going full circle around your target. Then from no activity of your bow, you will have lost 30 hp.
That's NOTHING.
Really, it's more an obsession than an actual problem. "oh my god I'm losing some health!". Barely. And the advantages are just overwhelming.
