Default PvE M/N Recovery build

This is my first character, so probably is really crappy, but here it goes:

Fast Cast: 5
Domination: 10
Illusion: 12
Inspiration: 3
Curses: 6

Mantra of Recovery
Backfire
Images of Remorse
Conjure Phantasm
Faintheartedness
Soul Barbs
Clumsiness
Channeling

Try not to spread attributes points over more than 3 attributes, or 4 at a pinch. Faintheartedness is a good skill, but most of your spells are fairly spammable so having mantra of recovery is rather pointless.

Anyway, you choose perhaps the most underated proffesion in PvE, but get into PvP and people will love/hate you, depending on which team you are on. Necro is a good compliment to mesmer. Try something like Reckless Haste, Spirit of Failure, Price of Failure and not only will that pesky warrior or ranger miss all the time, but will also take dmg, and give you energy.

Hmm... Darn. And I kind of liked the idea of a softlock using Mantra/Faint/Clumsiness while killing them with DoTs... I thought maybe Channeling would give enough energy too...

Well, how about this?

Backfire
Overload
Reckless Haste
Empathy
Wastrel's Worry/Spirit of Failure
Energy Tap
Channeling
Mantra of Recovery

Fast Cast: 5
Domination: 12
Inspiration: 8 (for Energy Tap/Spirit of Failure, otherwise 4 would do, giving me 11 in curse)
Curse: 9

How do the miss percentages from Reckless Haste, Spirit of Failure, etc. work? Do they stack, is the percentage based on the last cast, or the highest percentage?

Also, does Mantra affect its own recast time?

The percentages stack, but it's not direct addition.

I believe it works like this:

25% to miss on Reckless Haste (assuming 25% because wiki was down and I couldn't get the value for 9 curses)
+
25% of 75% for SoF
=
~44% to miss

I'm sure someone will chime in if I am telling you wrong.

you dont really need wastrel's imo. if they cast thru backfire they'll die. if they dont they'll do no dmg. either way it's worth the 15 energy it costs to cast. empathy is a killer in pve. i agree that everything is spammable enough that you dont nee MoR. channeling isnt really needed either. but you do need power drain. you NEED it.
spirit of failure is ok in pvp but in pve i find the targets die too soon to get any real use out of it.

if you're goin into curses with mesmer primary go cap Spiteful Spirit. arcane echo SS and throw it around with fastcasting on 10 or so and you can have 4 instances of SS on 4 different foes at once.

i run this in pve if i want SS

mes/necro
curses 12
inspiration 10
fastcast 10

arcane echo
SS
power drain
leech signet
cry of frustration
inspired hex
res sig

i've tried reckless haste in the build but find, like spirit of failure, the target doesn't stay alive long enough to throw another 10 energy spell at him. 3 or 4 spiteful spirits thrown around will take down the melee very fast.

interrupts are always nice. cry is good even with no domination.

Limiting attributes would be good as well; aim for 3.
