Ride the lightning = not "true" teleportation
Me and my guildmate tested this spell and are a bit disappointed about the teleportation part. We tried to jump in to the guild hall fortress, but it won't happen. It works only if the gate is open. So unfortunately it's not a "true" teleportation skill like necrotic traversal or consume corpse.

I haven't play around enough to think of one that is anywhere near decent.

Nope. Perhaps combining it with lightning touch. But still not worth it.

It doesn't say Teleport now does it...
It says you "ride the lightning" to target foe. You have to have clear line of sight and no obstruction to get to them.
Same thing with Shadow Stepping assassin skills - They have to have clean line of sight.
You can't do it through walls, gates, etc.
This was a needed thing, because without it, Guild Thief maps would be useless, as everyone would just go /a or /e to just auto-get inside the Guild Hall by stepping/riding to an Archer or something.

Last week i did this test with, a ele, assassin and necro, and my findings where that necros are the only class that have true teleportation, try using consume corpse or necrotic transversal on corpses, u will find you can teleport through any locked gate the reason why grenth is the great god, no illusion mind tricks just pure demonic power buahahha, jokez

both these assassin and ele tele skills are kind of a let down, but the problem with the assassin skills being dissappoining is that it conflicts with the whole storyline. visu supposedly used her assassin shadow arts to get thru a crowd and the walls of the temple to get to the emperor in time to see the emperors sould being consumed. i guess we will just never be as good with the skills as visu... ninja magic ft... to be determined?!

I think assassin has true teleportation in Scorpion wire and Viper Defense.

Hi, just tested, Recall, Scorpion Wire and Vipers Defense, all 3 skills have the description "teleport" rather than "shadow step".
Neither of these skills have true teleportation, tested it in guild hall(Imperial Isle), got a guildie to walk to my end, and i would attempt to teleport to his location with scorpion wire, and it seems i get stuck half way.
So i think ANet have to change the skill description of all 3 skills from "teleport" to "shadow step".
also note the necro skills consume corpse and necrotic transversal read "teleport"
so perhaps its worth reporting mistake

if you check the updates tab occasionally, you'll find where it says that you can no longer run through glitched gates (clicking before it closed) and/or teleporting through walls

and if u check the above posts you will find out necros can teleport anywhere as long as theres a corpse
