Default Training my Pet in Cantha

Has anyone run across an area where the damage is largely physical. I'm looking for a place to train my pet (to Dire) where the damage is controlable, and still have acess to the new drops in factions. It may turn out that I've got to go back to Ice Cave, and fight minotaurs, but I was wondering if anyone had run across a likely spot. For my part I have not.

Have you tried on the Monastery Island near the second mission to the east?

I actually haven't spent much time on Monastery Island, as I brought Snipe from Tyria. What level are the monsters there?

Depend where you are on the island. West to East- lvl 1 (except S/W witch its crimson skull guild with high lvl) to lvl 14/18.

you start at the middle thought when you arrive on the Island

Yeti's might work too, just kill red ones quick first (lvl 12, bitter chill) for phy dmg
up to lvl 15 monsters there, shouldnt overwhelm you either (pretty easy, I went as a low level assassin with hench monk and would take them out in small groups)

Well I guess the physical damage isn't as important as measured easy to control damage, so I think I'll try yeti's.

Yeah red ones can kill your pet fast and long haired white one can heal. Otherwise, both for primary targets.

The mobs just outside of Tanglewood Copse work extremely well. The undergrowths are extremely easy for their level, and the wardens aren't too bad either.

try Undergrowth's and Kirins outside Maatu Keep in Pongmei Valley? They may cast hexes and stuff on you, but when they attack, its all physical damage.

Stay away from wardens though, as they deal degen, and elemental damage.

Well, I broke down and got a Phoenix.

I used the Undergrowths to level it the last little bit, but they were much to tough to start it off there....And I get the feeling it would have been easier using the Minotaurs in the Elona Reach mission. But finally, it's Dire! I was worried for a sec, cause I accidently got it killed once.

My only complaints about my new pet is that the attack animation lag behind the actual damage dealt, and it looks akward while it's hopping around when I'm standing still.
