which is better?
Hence the title, which type is better? Earth, Water, Air or Fire?
Yeah, just rank those types from 1 being best to 4 being lowest.
And please say why number one is the best. It doesnt' exactly help me or anybody here if you just say FIRE!!!!!! Just putting that obviously states the fact you like fire and you're not very good at reading before answering (just like a written test).
But yeah, if you guys put LEGITIMATE answers, this'll help me choose which is better and WHY they are better. Because, I don't know, but I'm a little dissatisfied with earth at the moment.....

Fire -- best for damage in a PvE group
Earth -- best for soloing, because of the armor and the Ether Renewal synergy, except for a couple of Mist Form builds
Water -- pretty useless except for Mist Form
Air -- pretty useless in Prophecies PvE. But I wonder whether a PvP-like build emphasizing Blinding Flash would be good with the second melee class having been added to Factions.
EDIT: But I think the PvE mobs have a lot more condition removal in Factions than in Prophecies, so a blindbot may still be a bad idea.

Fire -- best for damage early game, IMO.
Earth -- Most useful defensively (and usually offensively, too).
Water -- Pretty useless in PvE.
Air -- I only use it for Gale.
Why do you seem dissatisfied with Earth?

Somehow i knew people would say fire as number one.
And the reason why I'm dissatisfied is because I'm a total noob and I don't know jack =D

Fire is good for AoE damage on low-level targets. Earth is better used defensively and for some fun side effects. Yknow, actually earth is best. Air is use for single target damage, unfortunately you'll do less than a warrior. Water is nice for snaring and such in PVP.
PVE:
1 Earth
2 Fire
3 Air
4 Water
PVP
1 Water
2 Earth
3 Air
4 Fire

Hey, I never said Fire was best. It's only the best in Ascalon and in the Shiverpeaks.
Anywhere else, Earth ftw. (Why else would I clock over 2000 hours on an Earth elly?)
I think in PvP, Water/Earth/Air are all "good", but different purposes.
For general pointers, look at threads (older threads included)...then ask again.
(I haven't got Factions yet, so I don't know about the PvP changes. However, I do know the PvE is relatively the same, and...yeah.)

personally, I think to be effective you need to have mixed builds like earth fire or water fire to be effective, but I would just try different things. the aoe nerf a while back sorta hurt the eles and turn them into more of defensive characters than they used to be so u gotta be creative snare/nuke etc..

PvP GvG:
1. Air: Blinding Flash owns and Orb+Strike is a good, fast assist to a Warrior spike. Ether Prodigy+Heal Party is also easy to stick on these. Has lots of utility slots so can bring Earth Wards/Water snares, too.
2. Water: Snares counter splitting, slows runners down and is a good counter to Warriors. Extremely good. Deep Freeze doesn't need points in Water to make the snare useful, which is why many Air Eles bring it and maybe Ice Prison to have at least some snares.
3. Earth: Wards own lots of things and Obsidian Flame is a nice addition to spikes. Hard to stick Ether Prodigy on these because Obsidian and EQ both cause exhaustion.
4. Fire: Has no good utility skills, but some pressure teams have found this to be a good way of dealing with Wards. Also it's nasty to be a Warrior when a Fire Ele sits on you until you use Frenzy and he unleashes Rodgort's etc. on you.
