Strength or Tactics sheild?
Strength or Tactics sheild?
When it comes down to overal benefit from stats and skills, which is better?
For pve?
For pvp?
As it appears to me:
Strength = mostly offensive and some defensive
Tactics = mostly defensive and some offensive
Also, this is not just concerning warriors. Any class with a warrior secondary may use a tactics sheild.
Also, same stat sheilds such as the exhalted egeis. Which is better and why?
Please only post logical answers with appropriate reasons.

Whichever you have the req for... Strength is more popular because most people have higher strength than tactics.

A Sword or Axe Warrior so use a Strength Shield. A Stance Warrior would use a tactics shield.

any warrior would want higher tactics than strength i think, the 1% of armor penetration is easily payed back by the usefulness of tactics skills
every boost to your heal sig helps your monk, charge as an aoe speed boost, can't beat that...
and for the different shield. if the stats are the same, they work the same. the ONLY difference is looks

if you are fighter warior = strenght for armor penetration bonus
if you are a classic tank = tactics to make those stances more efficient

wow suprised I'm the first saying this: both. Get both a tactics and a str shield. And get one that has mods for while enchanted, while in stance, and always. Have a shield for every build. Be versatile.

I'd have to say both. Some builds are str > tac, some are tac > str.

True. I'd have to say start off with a str shield if you cant afford both.

Get tactics. Strength as an attribute line is pox. The AP adds so little damage to be worthless and most of the good strength skills effects either are strong at low strength (sprint, rush) or do not rely on the attribute (bull's strike).
Tactics on the other hand allows for a lot of versatility with heal sig etc. and a number of shouts.

A monk wouldn't have strength, it's the main attribute for warriors and only warrior primes have it.

the extra damage from str is nihil.
It only adds the extra damage to the skills you use. So if you use a cyclone axe attack, you might do 1 extra damage at 3 or more str.
Get a crimson carapace: R9 tact, hp+45 stanced, -2 damage stanced
Get a malinons shield equivalent (I believe 5 k from a canthan crafter or less from a collector): R9 tact, hp+45 chanted, -2 damage chanted.
Then there's the other ones with bulwark stats: +30 hp always, -2 damage stanced (I believe these exist in both tactics and str)
And the -5 20% chance hp+30 (I think) tactics/str shields
You'll probably want a few special ones for certain purposes but you'll figure it out when you need them (some people like +1 to attribute 20% chance shields)
