Default Master BUILD CREATORS assemble!

alright, so i created a build through a bunch of trial and error, but its missing something. its similar to a 55 build, but it won't work unless i can find some constant source of life via hits like live vicariously or w/e skill it is that gives you health each time your hit.

here's the build.

using a staff with health +30 and energy +15(10 for the staff,5 for the mod). its req 9 dom

max drakescale armor (this is improtant!)

current atts(these tend to change as i try differnet things)
inspiration 11
domination 9
wilderness survival 10 (with rune)
expertise 4-7

keep in mind i do not have the proper rune setup or mask for this build since im just testing it. if i added those it might improve slightly


skills

greater conflaguration
troll unguent
barbed trap (place filler)*
mantra of flame
empathy
spirit shackles
signet of weriness (the one that takes away energy)*
mind wrack

*skills that are just recent as i change the build around alot

the build needs significant work, and i have no doubt there is a good chance it will turn out to be a complete flop, but id like to see if it can do anything, looks to have potential. the idea behind it is that you use it against melee or projectile types, and you lower dmg to a very small amount (i usually only recieve 2-8 dmg using this build) and use troll unguent to keep health up, while using energy degen and mind wrack and empathy to lower health...

it has two problems, it doesn't kill quite fast enough to be worthwile, and i usually die. so far i can solo like 4 griffins with this build, but it needs alot of work. ive tried things like dryders defense or distortion or similar things that seem ideal but they don't stack with mantra of flame so using any of them instantly gets you owned.

any ideas? see if you guys can make this work!

Swap something out for Winter and take frostbound armor. This will make all damage cold when GC and Winter are up, making you a beast of a tank. (Throw in mantra of frost, and gg.)

If he is farming physical damage dealing Monsters, why would he want to do this?

Damage changing sprits e.g winter/greater confliguration, as mentioned, change all damage types, to a point.....e.g direct damage (wastrels worry...e-surge ect)
But yeah all melee damage is converted into fire/cold ect ( i think )

But what I'm saying is that if he's changing physical damage to fire, then reducing it with Mantra of Flame and Drakescale, why would he want to add an additional spirit that in the end accomplishes the same thing.

The thing is, GF only converts physical damage to fire - this means elemental spells or weapons will stay what they are. Thing is, if your facing enemies which use elemental attack's or are fire resistant.. just GF won't do you much good. By using Winter as well you convert all physical and elemental damage to cold, which can be useful if effecting enemies which have a weakness to cold (or are effected by cold normally but are resistant to fire/physical damage).

But if facing enemies with no special resistance to fire and/or enemies which don't use elemental or other attack's.. not sure why you'd want to convert all damage to cold rather than just leave all physical damage as fire and rest as normal.. *shrugs*

so what are you trying to do exactly? Farm?

If thats it... try this build here. It works in many places, for solo farming and is easy to get used to.

i know there are other ways to farm if i wish, im trying to develop this build in general... for instance, i used it against 3 lvl 20 and 1 lvl 11 warrior and they couldn't kill me with it... i need ideas how to improve this build, not use a different one...

and yes winter would be a good idea except for right now at least i don't plan on blocking elemental based dmg... for right how im just tyring to figure out how to make a physically defending build work. like i said, could be good.

if i could only add a monk skill that would make you gain life each hit you take this build would be invincible, but sadly both the ranger and mes are required... so make it work with what you have :P



if all else fails... at least find a way for its dmg dealing and such to be more effective

It may just be me, but this build seems like it has a bit too much tunnel vision. Most of your skills would really make a single target have a seriously bad day, but how often do you end up fighting a single target? I also see a number of e-denial skills here, and you say that you're fighting melee creatures. Draining their energy is all well and good, but wouldn't it be better to drain their life or stop their attacks instead?

One idea could be to toss in Flame Trap. Sure, it will trigger the AoE thing, but you only need to hit them with it once. That -5 pips of health can take off a good chunk, and if they walk away from you for a bit, that can relieve the preasure for a bit. Dust Trap may also be an idea, but that may mess up the energy gain from Mantra of Flame. Since your Domination is high, have you concidered Cry of Frustration? That *could* help a little, but I've never used it myself, so I couldn't say for sure.

i suppose i could mix in chaos storm to get them to go away and then drop traps during the break, though id need to get rid of all the dom to boost my expertise and it would be severly more energy drain. plus im hesitant to make this just another trapping build... ill try it outthough.
