Right, I'll try explain things simple to you... The skills are fairly logical, if you have one skill, it might work well with another. If you _READ_ (start to make a PVP char' so you can view all the skills

), or look on guildwarsguru.com (it's a weird site, ignore the stupid people, especially with the names of cobra and such ) them, you'll see things like a trap... Then it says "this skill is easily interupted". That means, your enemy doesn't even NEED an _INTERUPT_ to interupt you (interupt, just think about back when you're talking nonsense and everyone tries to shove a ball in your mouth, that's interupting).

Now what you'd like is a skill to make it harder to interupt, agreed?

So go along - read through all the skills, you'll see something like "mantra of resolve", it's a mesmer skill... It stops you being interupted =) At the cost of energy... Or a skill called trappers focus, but I'll keep it simple (wouldn't want to lose you) and say you're with resolve...

Now you might want ranger/mesmer. Agreed? For those skills mentioned...

If you had a brain, you'd of looked BEFORE hand at the skills and then decide on your secondary. Myself and I hope everyone here appreciates your stupidity (and of course I await your next attempt to impress me with your stupidity) so we can forgive your mistake.

Luckily for you, this game was probably aimed at people like yourself - so guess what? You can change secondary in the desert

. Yeah, and you were just about to get your m16 and kill your school buddies huh? Now, when you have resolve, and you're a trapper it's the start of a good build... Right?

For hex removal, you might think, ok remove hex works but you want energy too! Then you can look up a skill like this (also a mesmer skill), that might be good for a monk...

Now in IWAY, I mean you'd be a perfect candidate for an IWAY player! You have a necro, but he has to also knock the enemy down _AND_ speed up your team party... So you'll run a necro/ele with windborne speed!

For warrior, a good skill is "shock" it knocks the enemy down...

Now I won't keep posting about builds... You think up one, and ask its falts... I'll help you^; however, I will NEVER give my recipe on how to make good crumpets!

Pretty sure the reason that he was telling us the secondaries he has is because he's playing on a friend's account. I know if I was his friend, I wouldn't appreciate him spending gold on new skills/etc.

And not to be too opinionated or anything, but the last time I checked, this forum was about PvE builds, not trying to deflate someone's ego so you can get your panties wet. Keep to advice, yes?

Some advice: whoever said death magic can't do damage?
Let's mention a few skills worth considering if minions aren't your cup of tea.

Death Nova
Edge of Extinction
Icy Veins {E}
Taste of Pain
Deathly Swarm

If you don't like them, blow them up.

Now let's see here. Necros have this thing called soul reaping, right? It gives you energy when things die. The idea with this is to summon some minion.. prefferably more than once at once, and cast death nova on each. Use taste of death to destroy the minion and self heal. Edge of Extinction will hurt the mobs that took damage from your attacks. Icy veins will help fuel the chain reaction. You can also add in Well of Suffering or whatever to help the damage along. Well of Suffering + Poison from Death Nova = 9 degen at least.

Deathly Swarm I just put in there for arguement's sake. People have it in their head that elementalists are the only damage dealers in the game, and assassins are invincible. My guess is this comes from a childhood full of Naruto and Diablo II.
If you look at the skill descriptions, Deathly swarm deals 67 damage on up to 3 targets with 12 death magic. Chain Lightning deals 70. Chain lightning uses a different element, air vs cold, and also has a 25% armor penetration. Deathly swarm doesn't have either, making it maybe a little less spikey, but also a lot more usable. 16 death magic brings this spell up to 86 damage per target, while Chain lightning is 90 damage at 16 air magic.
Deathly Swarm also has a much lower recharge time.

Necromancers obviously don't have any good damage skills.

At level ten, you can collect quite a few skills just from doing the quests (if this is in tyria). Changing profession in the desert is free also

As for this comment, that was about death magic skills specifically; therefore, I think you can agree that 8 death magic skills will probably not be the same ammount and type of damage as an Ele. In addition, "death magic" implies the skill is generally related to "death" or things dying... Where as ele's damage are unconditional. Granted "Deathly Swarm" is not, but most of them are

Edge of extinction is Beast Mastery too, not death magic... Once again, it relies on an enemy dying too... You can't just nuke a target like you can with an ele.

Not to say I wouldn't use a non MM necro for damage... I would, just not a necro with only death magic...

If you bothered to read my first post you would of seen that it was ALL advice... Things like soul reaping surely he can READ the discription on his own? I made a N/E
she's lvl 8 almost 9 now
i put most of her atrrib points into blood/death magic
i put about 6 into soul reaping
i put about 3 in curses
and probably a couple in fire i think...dont remember this is all off the top of my head.

just another advice. during low levels try to focus only on 2 attributes. when you hit level 11 (i think or is it 12) you will have plenty of attribute points to use. Your primary attribute should be 9 or 10 and that's with the rune and the second attribute should be in the 5-7 range depending on your level of course.

secondly i appreciate any advice...what I don't appreciate is smart asses and ppl who think they know it all and have a holier than thou attitude and yes that s what you sound like elektra_lucia...so STAY THE F&%$ outta my thread unless you can be civilized and respectful and give some critical information.

And yes I can read and I can look things up but trying to save myself some time and headache by asking around which is what anyone smart would do.

Also i didn't know you could reset your secondary, because in the game I normally play in...in order to reset any skill or even attributes you have to spend like 3-5mil(3-5kk for some ppl) just to reset each attribute or skill set you screwed up, so I am asking around in case that was the case in this game also.

Thirdly, originally at some point in this post i did state i was playing on a friends account so you need to read more carefully. Now I have my own game, which i bought last week and now have N/E female lvl 11 almost 12 already

4th, don't jump on or attack other ppl that said nothing rude to you or has done nothing to you

The best suggestion I can give you is ignore people, and try work out things yourself... A lot of people give advice which isn't worth listening too..

ill have to figure out my stat point because i took away soul reaping or curses temporarily...i figure ill have enough attrib points between 11-20 to add more points to soul reaping...right now with runes on armor and scar patter i have blood 9 death is like 3-6 cant remember and fire is at 6 because of the wand i have right now...i prefer to use the wand rather with a divine something...cant remember off hand but it has better stats than most other stuff im getting as a drop. As opposed to using a 2h staff.

wow gg....maturity....here i am trying to downplay this situation and let it drop and someone else comes along and makes another useless comment and gg i'm surprised you even know how to spell IQ...anyway lets try this again. I am trying to make good of this situation and use this topic as it is intended so flame elsewhere.

Since I am a noob to this game, I am not sure if i am following the correct path for the character so I am asking for suggestions beyond lvl 11. right now i'm using slot 1 vamp. gaze, slot 2 deathly swarm , slot 3 life siphon, slot 4 Animate Bone Horror, slot 5 Vampiric Touch , slot 6 pheonix , slot 7 fire storm, slot 8 Glyph of Lesser Energy(i think is right one)
