Default 55 Ritualist?

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but here goes. I was thinking the other day that my 55 Monk just wasn't killing critters fast enough. So I began my search through the skills of other professions. Now normally with my 55 monk I would run with max attributes in smite. But what if a person were to put those same amount of points into Channeling? Here's what I've come up with so far (not sure about the exact numbers, this is just a theory):

Attributes
Channeling Magic: 16 (12+4)
Healing Prayers: 8 (or 9, I forget when it switches to +3 on Mending)
Protection Prayers: 10 (or whatever you have left)

Skills
The Basic 55 skills:
1. Healing Breeze
2. Protective Spirit
3. Essence Bond
4. Balthazar's Spirit
5. Mending

And The Channeling Skills:
6. Ancestors' Rage: Spell. All foes adjacent to target ally are struck for 10...100 damage. Cost: 10, Activation TIme: 1 sec, Recharge: 8 sec.
7. Spirit Rift: Spell. Open a Spirit Rift at target foes location. After 3 seconds, all adjacent foes are struck for 20...115 lightning damage. Cost: 15, Activation Time: 2 sec, Recharge: 5 sec.
8. Channeled Strike or Spirit Boon Strike - your choice, both do pretty close to the same damage. (ignoring the secondary effects of the skills)

Now again I reiterate, this is all just theory. Please feel free to post constructive criticism and potential improvements. I've thought of having monk Primary and Ritualist secondary, but the idea is to dish out as much damage as possible in the shortest amount of time. The above 3 skills have the potential to dish out more damage in a shorter period of time than the standard Holy Strike, Archane Echo, Shield of Judgement combo that my Mo/Me is using right now. My only worry is the lowered attributes in Healing and Protection. But again, it's the choice of wacking the critters faster then they wack you. Let me know what you think, and be Gentle. This is (oddly enough) my first post in the Builds section.

I would think the life stealing pot holder elite would work better for most mobs that have high armor and reduce your lightning damage.

Vengeful Was Khanhei

Hold Khanhei's ashes for 5...10 seconds. Whenever a foe strikes you in combat while you are holding Khanhei's ashes, you steal 5...29 Health from that foe.

Probably your best bet.

10 seconds attack time and 20 second recharge... seems like it would be an exhausting run.

When you hold ashes, doesn't it remove the effects of your weaponset? So you'd lose the -50 from the Grim Cesta, which would greatly increase the damage you took while holding the ashes.

that puts your HP at 105 without the grim cesta. so you have to heal (or life steal) 10 to break even. I think Vengeful Was Khanhei would work if you kept mending on too. still get plenty of health.

105 builds still work, it's just you need to heal a bit more then a 55 build. But for ritualists your main damage dealer spells are stealing life so it isn't as big of a problem for them.

A very interesting train of thought. Keep with it.

Does anyone actually have a Ritualist that they could test this with? Rit sup runes are cheaper than dirt right now (for the most part) and there are no elite skills to try and cap. I know, I know, I could try it myself but my last character slot it filled by a full mule. (Damn Jade Brotherhood and thier damn cloth!! *shakes fist angrily* )

All in all though, it seems to me that this could possibly be even faster than my 55 Mo/Me build. And it ain't slow. If I have no takers by, say, Thursday, I will begin the long and arduous task of transferring all my crap to another character. (Damn Jade Brotherhood and thier damn cloth!! *shakes fist angrily* )

Stay Tuned! I'll keep you posted.

You know what would be lovely? If Anet actually delivered the character slot purchase they promised.
