Default Build I've used in alliance battles

Okay, I crafted up a messie build that seemed to work for me in alliance. Problem is, I can't figure how this build is working since on the surface it seems to have a number of problems, mainly an obvious lack of healing. When I tried this out, I figured, well if I die, I res pretty fast, so maybe healing isnt a big deal. However the odd thing is, I seldom die with this and even if I do take a hit, either a real player heals me, an NPC monk heals me, or I just remove myself from battle a sec until I gain a few HPs. (I guess I'm good at hiding behind those big, burly tanks) For a while I had resilient weapon on me, but I later dropped it since I seldom used it.

What would you change?

1. Images of Remorse
2. phantasm
3. accumulated pain
4. clumsiness
5. ineptitude
6. leech siggy
7. energy tap
8. power drain

IoR + Phantasm + accum. pain is a great combo and works on anyone although you really need to spam them. Clumsiness + ineptitude are great anti warrior skills but your gonna start to run low on energy and leech signet just doesn't cut the mustard. I would use energy drain {E}, energy tap and power drain then replace ineptitude with distortion or whatever you like (maybe ether feast if you want a heal), allowing you enough energy to spam these skills on your enemy. IoR + phantasm should = -10 degen, if spammed, should work a treat.

The reason for leech wasnt to regain energy, its to interrupt heal sig and/or troll. If I needed energy, I typically resorted to power drain or energy tap.

I was considering removing the phantasm/accum pain combo and replacing it with just phantom pain and then I could add in a heal or another energy skill (drain enchant or ethereal burden most likely), but I don't think I could survive out there without the blind and damage of ineptitude. It would only be 7 pips degen that way, and I wouldn't get to hand over that deep wound with that pivotal timing, but its not a horrible trade. I was also considering trading out leech for sig of disruption just for a better recharge.

pretty good illusion build. I would get rid of Energy Tap and get Drain Enchantment. (gotta get rid of that breeze) Also i'd fit distortion in there somewhere, none of my mesmer builds leave home without it.

hmm ... good idea. Foil those rangers!

Perhaps I'lll try out this:

1. Images of Remorse
2. phantom pain
3. distortion
4. clumsiness
5. ineptitude
6. leech siggy/sig of disruption
7. drain enchantment
8. power drain

So you basically do like a degen/WarHate build and then some interrupt and chant management support... Hmm, I personally like Tap but Drain is good, too. Perhaps ditch one of the interrupts? You should probably keep the universal one.

I disagree I think that energy drain is simply too good at energizing you to drop it in a build that is spamming 10e hexes. I like the build as is but if I had a change it would probably be drain enchant over energy tap

If your going to make them swing blind you might as well harvest some energy out of them.

Throw spirit of failure on the the guy you cast ineptitude on.

You should get 5 energy when he misses.

Distortion works as well as blind to make them miss.

If you're not going to use distortion then you really should have mantra of persistance in this build.

I like some of this stuff I'm going to try a similiar build to this.

yea distortion wasnt ideal for this, and as it turns out, energy tap is pretty necessary since there arent always enchants for the draining. i might try spirit of failure and see how that goes, thats a good thought.

thx for all the input guys

Pretty similar to what I'm running in ABs and places like Fort Aspenwood:

1. Conjure Phantasm
2. Images of Remorse
3. Accumulated Pain
4. Signet of Midnight [E] (prefer this over Ineptitude, because as a signet, it's free. You have to get up close, but I run in under the cover of Distortion)
5. Drain Enchantment (drain that breeze, gain energy)
6. Power Drain (energy management - I try to hit the big spells like Meteor Shower, Spiteful Spirit, etc.)
7. Clumsiness (always good for a giggle when a warrior has a sliver of health left)
8. Distortion (life-saver more times than I can count)

I've tried a number of skills in the fifth slot, like Spirit of Failure and the like, but in the end, stripping someone's enchant is the most useful (no Healing Breeze for you, little warrior. No Shadow Refuge for you, assassin).

Here's what I've been using in Alliance Battles. Since MM's are so common, I decided to take consume corpse and verata's gaze (nothing like stealing that Flesh Golem):

Mes/Nec
Ill:16, FC:6, Insp:10, rest in Death

Crippling Anguish (stopping runners is very nice)
Conjure Phantasm
Images of Remorse
Distortion
Ether Feast/Power Drain
Consume Corpse
Verata's Aura
Drain Enchant/Energy Tap

There are always so many people dying in Alliance battles that consume corpse is great healing/energy management.

heavy illusion degen works great in alliance battles. a few interrupts to keep on par with energy and disrupt the evil eles/necros. drain enchantment is nice since all the warriors like their mending/breeze/shielding hands wtf ...
I go with resilient weapon and soothing memories, which makes me not a healer but sometimes let us last the needed bit longer. I like the fact that resilient weapon is not an enchantment
