Anyway to kill Boss with R/Mo?
Hi,
I've been trying to farm Bosses in Cantha but till now i succeeded nothing . I'm using the barrage build, having no problems to getting to boss but i can't kill it.
Attributes
Marksmanship : 11+1+3
Exterprise : 10+1
Healing Prayers 10
Skills
Barrage {E}
Lightning Reflexes
Throw Dirt
Whirling Defense
Healing Breeze
Life Vicariously
Vigarous Spirit
Essence Bond
Equipment
Sundering Half Moon Of Fortitude (13% ^ 50%)
Zealous Storm Bow Or Warding ( 13% while enchanted )
I tried Xuekao and Chkkr today, going his place isn't a problem but i can't kill him. With all theese stances and healing stuff, his hp only gets to the half. Because of recharge times i have to run back and his hp gets full again...
So i wonder if there is a way to kill a boss with a ranger/* . Searched GwG and GwO but found nothing
Thanks...

Trapping is the easiest way but can be quite challenging depending on your surroundings... Basically cast up spirits and lay traps... lure monster over traps. whilst hes at a disadvantage gain some distance between each other, run back abit... cast up spirits again drop more traps and rinse and repeat. If he has a healing skill its best to take a skill that distracts such as distracting shot and if your lucky with timing distract it. By far the most frustrating and time consuming solo build as you can be there for ages but it does work... Eventually. Best way to practise is the troll caves near Droknors forge as theres 2 bosses in there aswell as standard trolls to practise on.
Bare in mind ranged(casters and rangers) bosses will need to be pullred onto the traps which is sometimes hard if the area is small or theres a patrols floating about near by.

limiting yourself to R/Mo won't get you anywhere. IMO R/Mo is probably the "worst" secondary for ranger. but thats just me.
Try this.
R/Me:
Equipment: Druid's Set, Hunter's Mask
Runes: Sup. Vigor, Sup. Expertise, Minor: Marks, Wilderness
Weapons:
Crippling Recurvebow of Fortitude
Poisonous Longbow of Fortitude
Attributes:
Expertise: 11+4
Marksmanship: 9+1
Illusion: 10
Wilderness: Rest+1
Skills:
Crippling Shot [E]
Conjure Phantasm
Distracting Shot
Whirling Defense
Hunter's Shot
Storm Chaser
Troll Unguent (little heal... but it helps :/)
Apply Poison
-----
Cripple/Poison -> Bleed -> Conjure -> degen to death. simple

I really don't think you should change cripple for BHA... simply because, cripple is the key to this build :/ although maybe you can try it with pindown... I don't know :/

In a nutshell, you must be able to interupt Chikkr's or any bosses self-healing, while surviving them. Or to simply outdamage the self-heal over time. And your build is too defensive...and too much like a whammy (wa/mo). (Press your luck.. no whammy's no whammy's stop!)
I've destroyed chikkr with just 4 skills in the past. Distracting shot, pin down, apply poison, and hunters shot. None of which are elite. His only self-heal is shadow refuge (which despite the assassins gripes is as powerfull as troll unguent IMO and far harder to interupt). Secondary is irrelevant... straight ranger can do this, not to say other x-class skills can't make this easier. You should be able to keep chikkr crippled, bleeding, poisoned, and at arms length the entire time. (especially if you pack skills like escape and storm chaser).
You're not using your monk secondary well. You're trying to tank chikkr and outdamage him, with zero disruption. You'll have far better results if you simply kite and bleed/poison him to death. Your style of fighting simply makes his self-heal even more effective (since he garners 70 health or so regen, then another big hit of health at the end IF HE"S ATTACKING when it ends). Better use for the monk secondary is to keep yourself clean and able to fight in the runup to getting to chikkr (the only mobs in there which gave me any trouble are the mesmers with their HEAVY degen... nothing remove or smite hex couldn't handle though on top of troll unguent).
Traps won't work... I tried that once just for the fun of it. I had 18 traps stacked up... at least 3 dust traps, 5 flame traps, 5 barbed traps, 5 spiked traps... it only took him down to 33%.

As Reikai mentioned Crippling Shot is wayyyy better than BHA...
Really, its very key for almost anything and BHA is "meh" at best.
If you want to replace it with something (maybe you don't have CS) then Punishing Shot is a pretty nice Elite choice to use. Deals a lot of damage but its more of a "spike" shot and I don't know how well it would work with the build posted above. For that build, for sure CS is great.
Also the self heals are going to get you every time... Falconer expressed it really well, but just to add... I wouldn't even try to outdamage them vs their heals. They will outheal you almost every chance they can, so its best to interupt 1 or 2 of those heals then you can have them on the ropes. What I normally do is just set down one trap, lure them there, then when the trap goes off hit them really hard, they'll heal, interupt it and hit them really hard again. Also have Apply Poison applied so you can dish out even more damage. Do this once or twice more and they should be dead.
