Monk/Rit -- PURE healer
I am trying to build a "Pure Healer" and I would appreciate some suggestions.
Here is what I have so far. I am still working my way through factions with NO CAPS as of yet.
Monk/Ritualist
ATTRIBUTES -----
Healing Prayers = Maxed + Sup Healing +1 for headgear
Divine Favor = 12 (Req's for Brohns Staff)
Restoration = 5
MAIN SKILLS -----
Healing Breeze (I like this one - +9)
Signet of Devotion (when low on energy or necro uses Blood of the Master)
Life (gives everyone 90 life after 30 seconds)
Recuperation (+2 life regen for about 27 seconds)
OTHER SKILLS -----
Rebirth (gets them out of danger area)
Mend Ailment (just because)
I have 2 other healing spells -- costs 5 energy each -- heals between 100 to 130, recharge is 5-15 seconds depending on the one i use.
So far as the only monk in a group I have been able to keep a semi-intelligent group alive as long as they keep people away from me. Mostly this has been a PVE build -- Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, even suggestions to turn this into PvP.
I am using Brohns Staff for the health and Shepherds armor for the health, I intend on changing a piece or 2 to ascetics and getting sup vigor. As of now I am using Sup Healing Prayers - Sup Divine - Maj Vig - and the rest are minor.
Thanks

I'm not sure if its in Factions or not, but get Word of Healing. With the new updates- also get Vigorous Spirit.
Orison of Healing with high DF is good.
Holy Veil is good vs hexes
You may wish to trade in Mend Ailment for Mend Body and Soul. As long as Recouperation is out, MBS will remove 1 condition on target ally (and heal). It has the same stats (5/.75/x) but it has a quicker recharge time (by 2 seconds).
These are only suggestions for you to consider.
Which rez do you prefer?

I dabbled with this before, I like it for the most part, but I'm not too fond of the high energy cost of the spirits, especially when healing monks are already strapped for energy to begin with.

I agree about the high cost of spirits. I ended up getting a guildie to give me pointers and help me test a few things.
now I use the following skills
Healing Breeze (only used when someone is getting rocked)
Dwayna's Kiss (used when signets are recharging and someone has a condition or hex)
Orison (low cost quick cast - quick recharge)
Healing Whisper (only used on casters in my area)
Signet of Devotion (I try to use healing signets as much as possible)
Signet of Rejuvenation (Got to love "free" healing)
Life (+90 health after 30 seconds - recharge 45 - cost 10- I use this as a "setup" before going into battle)
Rebirth (get people rezzed and away from danger)
So far this is working very well for me, my energy stays above 30 until things get tough and i start using breeze, but at least I have the energy to use it. I don't use anything that costs energy (except for life as a setup) unless necessary, by necessary I mean when my signets are charging or someone needs a big heal.

I'm not too sure about Life. Doesn't it work with an "in the area" range? Is the healing *in range of the spirit* or "in the area"? As a monk, you should be well out of "in the area" range from your tanks, which would be the ones that might need the healing. And it's pretty conditional, given the circumstances.
Dwayna's Kiss is good for people with enchantments, not conditions
I suppose you have no elites to work with right now. I would suggest swapping out life with vig spirit, which you would just put on warriors. Those hp per hit are really something with the new change.
If you really want to bring ritualist skills in the mix, you'd need some spirit manipulation skills, so you could use their effects "on the spot" instead of waiting for their fixed recharges.
Other than that, the build is okayish. I'm not too sure about using healing breeze - Something just irks me about slow heals. Considering you have two signets, you could pace your healing with them(instead of breeze), and instead bring heal other, or some other big "oh crud he's dying!" skill.
You could also swap healing whisper with ethereal light, which won't limit you to half range.
The low self healing may be worrysome, but if you keep a good watch no mobs should be getting to you anyway.

this would be effective if the spirits energy cost wasn't so high, if you could find some way to harvest more energy this would work better, but im not sure how you would go about that with a rit secondary. anyway, regardeless, i woul db worried about that the most the energy managemnet is so key in monking thta its hard to use things that cost 15 nrg for one thing, which is why boon-prot monks have 5 nrg skills with fast casting, but they also need the mesmer/necro secondary for an energy management elite that your build would have no way of aceiving. (spelled that wrong). u could give it a try and it might wrk for easy beggining missions but i think you will find yourself having some nrg managemnet issues l8r in the game when it becomes more intense
