8 Man FoW Farming - Tank Build/Use Questions
Hello, guild's putting together an 8 man FoW team; I've been designated as tank and could really use some advice on what skills to bring - no guild members have ever done ToA tanking, including myself.
I was thinking to bring Watch Yourself and Dolyak Signet for the constant +~60 armour, and then Gladiator's Defense (for a bit of damage output) and Shield Stance, as I could still activate both Dolyak and WY without losing the stances. Then I was going to take Rebirth, Smite Hex, Purge Condition, and Endure Pain. This seems like it would be a decent build for FoW to me, but as I said I've never really done any tanking down there so any and all comments/suggestions about a build are appreciated. = )
Also, I was wondering if someone could let me know how aggro control works, or point me to an article I may have missed. I've heard some people say to take cyclone axe, and others say that's rubbish - concentrate on keeping yourself alive. So if someone could clear up how to take and control aggro it would be much appreciated also.
Thanks in advance for any replies - I have searched numerous sites for help, but it's kind of a trial on dialup = /.
EDIT: Forgot to include professions - Warrior/Monk..

Well, Watch Yourself+Doylak is a great combo for any warrior, as with both of them on you will be taking 0 damage, with the occasional 1-2 hits. I wouldn't rely on stances, though; once you reach the Skeletal army, they will become useless because of the Berserkers' Wild Blow. It is a good idea to take rebirth, though, as sometimes things go terribly wrong. Smite Hex is also another good option, especially against Spiteful Spirit. There aren't too many conditions in FoW, except for the Armored Cave Spider's poison, but Purge Conditions won't be enough to prevent it as they will constantly be firing poisoned arrows at you. Endure Pain would be a waste, because even with one decent monk you should survive easily. I would recommend bring Healing Signet, though, as sometimes the monks can get caught up in healing the casters. I would recommend Racthoh's 3-man tank build for this, with a few modifications:
W/Mo
10+3 Swordsmanship
10+1+1 Tactics/Strength
11+1 Strength/Tactics
Flurry
Skull Crack {E}
Galrath Slash
"Watch Yourself!"
Doylak Signet
Healing Signet
Smite Hex
Rebirth
If you're an axe warrior, just swap in Penetrating Blow in for Galrath Slash for some decent damage.
As for the Aggro Control description, all you have to do is make sure that EVERYONE is out of your aggro bubble before you rush in. With Doylak Signet, you should be fine for the few seconds that the monk is running up to help you out. While taking the aggro, tell everyone to stay back for a while, as the Shadow Beasts pop up a little after the mob is aggroed. Also, wait until all of the creatures are attacking you before everyone else comes up to start the killing. This way, there is a much smaller chance of the casters getting attacked by that stray Shadow Warrior.
Forgive me if my description isn't as "flowery" as others' may be.

Thanks, thats really helpful and clears everything up for me. We're doing a forgemaster run.. not sure what that is, so until I ask guild I'll take your advice about stances.

I used to go with flurry/galrath slash/something (think final thrust)/watch yourself/defy pain/dolyak signet/for great justice/rebirth.
Zealous sword of defense, sup vigor, 45hp/-2 in stance shield which puts you at 800 hp if strenght is at 15 (sup strength rune, rest minor (except vigor/absorp)) and +80 armor from skills only
For Great Justice was in there when defy had a greater adrenaline cost, I think you can live without..

Karunpav's build is very nice looking, although if you can fit it in, None Shall Pass! is another great skill to control the aggro. Example: If you aggro a group of shadow warriors, some will probably run past you, if your teammates is too close. If you use NSP they will be knocked down and they should turn to you.. Just my 2 cents..
