Should I start my ranger over -- Canthan?
Ah....
Well...
I hate not being able to have survivor on my ranger... so should I delete him and start a Canthan character???
I am not sure I could deal with losing all the skills I have built up -- then again there are only a few elites I could not get back right away.
Thoughts.

All you need to get is around 150k exp without dieing to recieve the title. That doesn't mean you can't die thoughout your job. >_>

I gave up for the survivor title on my ele mainly because I was dependant on monks (other characters) for healing. After the henchie monk decided not to heal her at the start of a battle for some reason, I gave up trying. It was also not very fun playing her while worrying about the title. I'm happy to just have one (or two) characters with the survivor or more title.
I think that it helps to have a plan, ie get the best available armour at the time, get plenty of healing skills, etc.., otherwise it's not worth it.

Definitely a 'no' to deleting your Ranger for a Survivor Title.
Even if you manage to get the title, what are the odds that you will be able to maintain it without quiting half the games you join?
And when/if you fail at maintining the title, wouldn't that mean making another Ranger?
Oh, the pain.
In addition to your comment about losing all your skills. If you start it as a Canthan character, be prepared to spend a lot of gold.

You know you can still get the "Survivor" title even if you've died 3000 times? (like me)
All you need to do is get 150,000 or something EXP in a row without dying. This doesn't mean your first 150,000 EXP, its 150,000 EXP anywhere, anytime, etc.
So just use your current ranger, and go trap some trolls, or buy a powerleveler,

Really?
I thought it was the first 146,500 or so... basically to level 20.
EDIT: I just checked several FAQs and they say it it the first 146,500 and can not be earned after you die.

Me too, I thought the title was lost on the first death, no matter what happens after.

A quote from Guildwiki:
Quote:
Experience Titles
Survivor
Granted to a character who has reached 140,600 experience points without dying. Using the command /deaths must return a zero.
Indomitable Survivor
Granted to a character who has reached 587,500 experience points without dying.
Legendary Survivor
Granted to a character who has reached 1,337,500 experience points without dying.
|
When you type /deaths - this must return a zero!
Therefore anyone who has played with a character and died at least once cannot get this title. If you die at any time on the track - you cannot continue for the next title in the Survivor line.
Not worth restarting a character, especially if you have any of the Sepcial Event headgear, Pumpkin Crown, Wintersday Hat, Grenth's Horns, and Tengu Mask. Not worth losing them!

I wouldnt start a new ranger in cantha. Maily because i have a big gripe with the new skills system. It is so annoying having a 5 day old lvl 20 char that skills cost 1 platinum each for !

As I got my Survivor with the Assassin and currently I'm positiv I achieve it with the Ranger I can assure you that Survivor means leveling to 20 without dieing. Indomitable Survivor and the Legendary Survivor as well can't be achieved anymore once you died. All those three titles are only available to players starting a new character and never die once (save the cinematic deaths and other similar caused deaths).

Well... I am keeping my original ranger... but I am a title chaser so I started an Assassin (earned surviror), started a Ritualist (half-way to survivor) and started a new Ranger (level 9 and no deaths).
We will see what character I keep in the end... but there are a lot of skills on my Tyrian ranger that I just will never use... so maybe paying for them isn't so bad... I will go get some key Elites though.

I really wish Anet would change the survivor titles to amount of xp since the last death. Technically it's still "surviving" since the last death, the character being "alive" during that time. They've gotta know that people will obsess on things like these titles. I get caught up in them too. I started a new ranger/monk for the legendary title. But it's gonna take me so long to get it, I'm considering just deleting everything and uninstalling Guild Wars. I can devote the hundreds of hours to something more worthwhile.
I admit, if I don't have access to something, I at least want the opportunity open. I deleted my monk, necro, and warrior and restarted them just so the survivor titles are still open to them. My original Ranger I'll keep since it's my first character. The idea of deleting all my characters and quitting Guild Wars for good is always open to me.

Feh. Good luck with all that. If I *know* somebody's going for survivor they won't get on my team, or if they display the first rank and tell me they're going for the next. I don't want people on my team that will map out rather than risk a death. Just my attitude, your milage may vary.

why the hell would you delete your ranger?.... just go kill some bunnies and lvl 15 mobs if you need to, or buy a power lvl.
and yea, before you can get all the nice elites?....... like ring of fire elites
