Flesh Golem
before factions came out my elite was either Offering of Blood or Aura of the Lich... they worked really well and MM was a breeze.
Once the MM update was in effect i really didnt have to even modify my builds at all. so as you can see with those elites it was a perfect MM build for me... then i capped Flesh Golem.
My question is, is Flesh gollem really worth the elite slot? i mean yea the extra dmg and the resiliance and the plain look of a hulking beast under your control is awesome and all but is it worth it compared to energy managment or hp managment?
Even with out the Flesh golem i still have 10 vamp horrors or fiends to deal alot of damage.. Im wondering if im gonna miss the extra dmg of the flesh golem.

thats what i was thinking, i mean maybe if it was vamp and had death nova on it from the start till it died then it would probably be worth the elite spot...
I was actually kicked from a group today because i didnt carry the flesh golem as an elite... I tried to explain that it would be easier on the monks if i brought aura of the lich and i wouldnt have lost much firepower anyway.
So i also agree that its overused.

Golem actually decreases the damage of your minion pack. It's mostly useful as a damage sponge and a perpetual minion in areas of the game that don't leave corpses. If bodies are always available and you have a good tank, I wouldn't think of taking Golem...
Though I don't like any of the other options either.
Peace,

From my experience, golem is nice when you need a tank that does more dmg less often. I use golem as my lead minion before I summon additional minions because golem can help bring down the first corpse (well, second corpse, technically).
Golem for me is more of a distraction. Golems can take a pounding and keep at it. But, more over, golems leave that ever popular disposable corpse. It's really a matter of what you're trying to accomplish, because minions master builds are just fine without the Golem.

Personally, I like the Flesh Golem.
Its not expensive, it provides its own body, it does lots of damage (very slow attack though), it has lots of health, and it likes to keep itself clean (i've seen it lick its paw/claw)
Aura Of The Lich - I almost never use. I find that removement of the enchantment is a pain (especially Shatter Enchantment). I also find that health degen spells are very harmful when you are under AotL. I don't find I have any health issues when I use VS or BotM, so I don't really need AotL.
Offering Of Blood - I don't find myself in need of energy, so I don't bother with OoB either.
Tainted Flesh - I've never actually used, so I don't know how good it would be for a MM
Anyway, I still like the Golem, overused, overrated, it doesn't matter, whatever you like to use, go with it. There is no true right or wrong with what elite you should take for missions/quests. Just go with what you have and what you like.

Super Effective. As people attack my minions, they are diseased. This means they suffer an 8dmg/sec penalty for attacking tainted minions on top of the minion's normal damage. The problem here is PvP. In any PvP, TF will cause you to be diseased if you're in proximity of others.
Hence the reason disease is a double edged sword.

Agreed.
Consider what you want to accomplish. Personally, I just keep golem b/c it's a reusable animate. And if there are no corpses, I can just keep animating golem when it dies. works pretty well.
Then again, the other elites mentioned each serve a purpose.
I will warn, Offering of Blood is easily replaceable with Glyph of Lesser Energy. Consider N/E for that reason.

I don't think Epinephrine has posted these recent numbers out of the SoF forum, so here is a small excerpt what could be a future article from him. The elite golem deals about twice the damage than a fiend. Tested a couple of weeks ago on 400 hits per minion.

The main selling point for Flesh Golem is the reusable corpse (beware corpse denial though). Goes in, falls (with Death Nova), rised right back, and keeps annoying the enemy pack. In low corpse areas, it decreases the pressure to 'speed through' that causes adrenaline warriors and MMs to run, and eles to cry for regen.
So, as with any of these questions, it depends where you're going. It's definitely worth capturing anyhow, plus you can get a nice staff as a bonus.

That was my understanding, too - that a golem's damage effectively makes it close to two minions.
I haven't really noticed a lack of effectiveness when using flesh golem, but I have seen a lot of antipathy toward it from players coming over from Prophecies. Many of the elites players compare the golem to are only for Prophecies, and one can't be capped until the final mission (Aura of the Lich). Offering of Blood is also relatively late in Prophecies.
Flesh Golem, by comparison, is available after you complete Closer to the Stars, the fourth mission. It's just more accessible than many of the elites that people feel are better choices. Heck, elites in general in Factions are more accessible than elites in Prophecies.

Elites in Factions were made more readily available because they assume you have played Prophecies and thus know what you are about. This helps by giving you the skills you need / want to be more effective.
Capped Golem 2 nights ago and thus far find it rather nice to have. Purely because of the corpse Very new to Necro though so can't really say about the other skills.

Oh, I know why they're easier to cap, but the fact is that they are, and that a lot of people playing through Factions haven't been anywhere near Hell's Precipice with any character.
I will get there today or tomorrow, cap Aura, and head straight back to Vizunah and see how it works. Since it won't let me cast BotM faster, I suspect I won't see a lot of difference.
