Fingers of Chaos - laziness?
Quote:
Fingers of Chaos
Stance. (monster only) For 5 seconds, your attacks: cannot miss rangers; remove enchantments from monks; cause conditions on warriors; interrupt elementalists; and lose a hex when attacking necromancers.

This new monster skill in PvE Tombs seems to be just a catch-all "hack" to defeat the current solo-farming builds. To me, that's laziness in design - surely already-existing skills can perform the task, if put together well? Thinking about this, I issued myself a challenge...
The mission:
- Create a new group of monsters with builds that would perform the same task as Fingers of Chaos (i.e. defeat solo-farmers)
- The skills used in these builds must already exist
- Make the monsters challenging for balanced groups as well (i.e. the monsters aren't there solely to defeat soloists)
The bonus:
- Maintaining the status quo, the monsters must not have a secondary profession (I know there are exceptions in the game, like warriors using Troll Unguent, but this is the general idea)
- Use as few skills as possible per profession, preferably 4-5 (as is the norm, making it easier for the AI to decide which skill to use I suppose)
Here's my go at it. I should note that I don't play Ele or Necro, so my knowledge in those professions are somewhat limited.
Warrior
Attack Skill
Attack Skill
Wild Blow
Fear Me!
Savage Slash
Wild Blow disables stances (no more R/W evasion tanks), Fear Me spam keeps energy low (general annoyance) and Savage Slash interrupts.
Ranger
Attack Skill
Attack Skill
Throw Dirt
Distracting Shot
Barbed Trap
Conditions warriors with Blindness and Cripple, interrupts with Punishing and Distracting Shots
Mesmer
Cry of Frustration
Shatter Enchantment
Energy Surge
Sympathetic Visage
Shatter Hex
General annoyance.
Elementalist
Fire Attunement
Glyph of Energy
Meteor Shower
Flame Burst
Mark of Rodgort
Fiery goodness.
Necromancer
Chilblains
Vampiric Touch
Unlike the nightmares which pop up once in a while, this one can remove Spellbreaker/Obsidian Flesh and can kill 55 monks in one hit, if they get close enough. I simply don't know the necro spells that well to come up with a "full" build, so I'm leaving it as it is.
I would like to see what the more experienced players can come up with.

Vampiric Touch/Gaze will kill a 55 regardless once SB wears off, kinda funny. Well, provided that it will steal more than 55 health.

Vampiric touch will kill it regardless of anything, it is skill, not spell

yep, that's laziness I tell you.
If they really wanted to defeat solo farming they would just have more well rounded teams of monsters instead of implementing stuff like that.
If PLAYERS could use that skill, we'd have people yelling left and right.

Nobody ever said it was supposed to be fair between players and monsters... they get above-cap stat levels, more energy, more armor and hps, and monster only skills.
Do people whine about wurm siege and spectral agony? Well probably... zomg too strong!

No, read Finger of Chaos again.
EDIT: Well what I mean is that the elementalist will be edrained like there is no tomorrow, and interrupted as a result of what Finger of Chaos does to elementalists. You could use Mantra of Resolve, but you'll be drained of energy insanely fast on top of Energy Surge and Fear Me!

hmmm that could read out to mean A) removes enchants that were casted from monks, or B) removes all enchants casted on monks but wont remove monk enchants casted on - IE elementalists
kinda vague if you ask me, some testing is in order
