CA R/Me degen interrupt
Hi I'm new to guild wars and mainly play just for the CA so go easy on me I don't have much faction yet so I don't have the ability to mess around with alot of builds. I was wondering how this build would do in the CA and what changes you would make keeping the degen interrupt focus in mind.
Concussion Shot - Bow Attack
If Concussion shot hits while target foe is casting a spell, the spell is interrupted and your target is Dazed for 5-17 seconds. This attack deals only 1-13 damage.
Escape {Elite} - Stance
For 5-15 seconds, you move 25% faster than normal, and have a 75% chance to "evade" attacks.
Whirling Defense - Stance
For 8-18 seconds, you have a 75% chance to "Block" attacks. Whenever you block an attack this way, adjacent foes take 5-10 piercing damage.
Apply Poison - Preparation
For 24 seconds, enemies struck by your physical attacks become poisoned for 3-13 seconds.
Arcane Conundrum - Hex Spell
For 5-13 seconds, "spells" cast by target foe take twice as long to cast.
Conjure Phantasm - Hex Spell
For 2-12 seconds, target foe experiences health degeneration of 5.
Troll Unguent - Skill
For 10 seconds, you gain health regeneration +3-9.
Resurrection Signet
Also, what attributes/runes would you use with this build? And the zealous string would be a given for something like this I'm thinking.
Thank you,
Heeby

zealous string is never required...see that little skill called expertise? reduces the energy cost of most your ranger related skills (and glyphs, as well as anything with the description "Skill") by 4% per level. I would suggest keeping your wilderness, expertise and marksmanship pretty high, and pour at least 8 or 9 into illusion (arcane conundrum is illusion right?). Concussion shot...if you can use it, do it, IMO one of the best interrupts. But, if you can't, savage shot is the way to go. Minor runes are always good, maybe some majors for that build...best idea is just to experiment.

Yep I know about Expertise but I'm thinking zealous would help alot because the illusion spell costs aren't lowered by it. Mostly Conjure Phantasm which is a 10 energy cost with a 5 second reuse timer.

I wouldn't bring both Whriling defense and Escape. In fact I'd toss escape and pick up crippling shot or Punishing shot. And keep a close eye out for mend aliment, that's the big bain of condition degen builds. Conjure Phatom is a great cover hex for Arcane conudrum (Migraine is better, but it takes an elite slot).

Thanks SnipiousMax I think I'll take your advice and run Crippling instead of escape. Also what about Concussion Shot versus Savage Shot?

no....no, no no. it's either concussion shot or choking gas. choking gas just destroys the entire use of concussion...1 or the other. i would take concussion over savage as it opens up a massive interrupt possibility. but, it's personaly taste, i never have like savage...use your elite wisely....pin down covers crippling shot, but is always useful cos of the lower cost etc...choose your elites wisely.

Choking gas is not the greatest skill in the world. It's like dropping a quarter in the interrupting slot machine, same with Incendiary Arrows. I don't much like savage shot either, damage is too conditional, but it can have its uses, and most of your targets are spell casters anyway (Savage isn't elite). I would take concussion over savage, even with the added cost. Dazed is a rangers best friend. Distracting shot(my favorite next to punishing shot) is another gem, for the added recharge time. But I think Concussion works best for this build. As for Crippling vs. Pin down. Crippling shot is a great skill, because unlike Pin down, its spammable. It is a great use of an elite.
If you weren't using acarne conundrum, I'd say drop Conjure Phantasm and pick up Hunter's shot (for bleeding), but you might looking into another cover hex ( I think Phantasm costs 10, so you might find one that costs 5.). But this is a degen build, so Phantasm is fine.
As for stats,
I would look at the break points for Expertise (there's a guide here) and only put as much as you needed into expertise and then balance the rest on Marks, Illusion, and Wilderness survival. I'd only use one superior and the rest minors. Probally a superior marks, but I guess it doesn't matter.
