Default Mo/E - looking for advice.

ello all..
Im a noob.. sorta.. to GW

I say sorta because I started playing when it first came out. In fact I have the "color effects" when i do emotes

I say Im a noob because i just dont get alot of the chatter about skills and build and all that..

So ffar, my Mo/E has made it to level 17.. 97% to 18.
I am currently at the misiion town of Aurora Glade " ithink thats it"

I feel like there has to be more i could be doing as far as skills go to be more effective in a group..

I do not have any elites.. but want to try to unlock some.

My attributes so far look a lil ike this..

Healing 10 (9+1)
Smite 9
Divinity 7

The first step to having a better ujnderstanding of the game is asking questions and gathering info.. however.. I am not sure what questions to ask.. I mean.. just asking for a Build may or may not help me.. as I really dont know what makes a build good or bad..

If you where in my noobish position... what skills would you try to get, or use to assist you in getting past the PVE missions and maybe even allowing you to effectively keep your group alive..
there thats a good question i think.. :P

PS - here are the skills I currently use

Smite | Bane Sig | Sig of cap | Rest Life | Orio Heal | Heal Party | Healing Breeze
Im carrying the Sig of cap skill now to hopefully get new skils from boses..

as you play a monk, you must have noticed that people expect you to heal. it is not, in any case, an obligation,as you can play your character how you see fit but since monk are the best healers, i would suggest you to use only healing or protecting skills.
if i were you( which im not ), i would put the 9 points you have in smiting into protection prayers, annd replace your smiting skills by protection skills to better help your party.
like this you can heal more, and since you dedicate yourself only to heal and protect, you are far more concentrated on your party s health bars.
also, if you think you have enough skills, it is good to specialize in either protection or healing prayers in order to be more effective.

after pre searing i'd heal. bye whatever heal skills you can. do all the quests to get those free skills. smite is ok but by now you'll likely team with others that do much more damage than you.

heal heal heal until you are comfortable. then i'd try prot or bonding.

i good healer will allow the team to win. read all you can on this forum. tons of good stuff.
