Default For those who want a non 55 farmer monk for whatever reason....

I present to you..

smiting prayers: 11 +1 +1
protection prayers: 10 +1
divine favor: 10+1
healing: leftover +1

essence bond,
balthazar's spirit,
divine boon,
shield of judgement (e)
reversal of fortune
orison of healing
protective spirit
zealot's fire

1) Throw on essence bond, balthazar's and boon
2) cast zealot's fire on yourself while mob comes
3) put up shield of judgement and protective spirit when the mob is close and spam healing spells as needed
4) after shield is out, use zealots
5) reversal of fortune, and healing touch as needed.

I figured it would contrast nicely with all the 55 builds around here.

I haven't had too much experience with it yet, but it seems doable so far. Comments/thoughts/suggestions/flames much appreciated.

ZF will make the mobs scatter, which will end up slowing things down considerably. You'd probably be better off just using Arcane Echo with SoJ.

hmm... i've been wanting to farm solo for a while... maybe i'll try it as i'm too poor to afford all those runes. I wish i had bought them back when sup runes of healing were 4k, and prot runes were 1k

Also, take note that you added in orison instead of healing touch in your skills list.

ZF will cause mobs to scatter if skills are spammed. If they're running, SoJ isn't going to do it's job. Use SoJ first, and when it runs out, use ZF while waiting for the recharge. With good timing, if skills are used at 2 second intervals (or there and about), ZF shouldn't cause the mob to scatter.

Against a mob or lvl 20+ enemies using a non-55hp build, though, you're probably going to need to heal yourself more often than once every 2-3 seconds. This is why I'd ditch ZF and just get Arcane Echo.

True, and I would agree that it is the way to go. However Arcane Echo is only available to Mesmers, and as no secondary profession was mentioned, I took it that this build was suggested for Mo/x.

The build as it stands is not efficient as already mentioned, but it's quite accessible to all monks. It's not restricted by a secondary profession or the need for sup. runes, just the need for one elite (SoJ).

A 55 build is expensive, and everyone needs a starting point. Even if it's slow, at least they can get started.

With high hp you will be taking to much damage even if you use echo with soj on mobs more than 3 or 4. if you wana go for a high hp farming build than look into building a w/mo. Otherwise a 55 monk or 55 necro are the way to go. necro runes are cheaper than monk runes the last time i checked.

I just tried this build and it's actually fairly good. I'm taking on mobs of 5+ outside droks with ease. I tried archane echo and now it works even better. This is with my w/mo friend of course.

Anyone who is ascended can switch to Mesmer secondary for AE, so that shouldn't be a problem. If you can't use the Mesmer secondary for whatever reason, another option is to fit Blessed Aura and fairly high DF into your build. With a 20% enchanting weapon and ~12 DF, your SoJ will last 50% longer than normal. Generally speaking, though, you're better off echoing SoJ.

And yes, 55 N/Mo is a much cheaper version of the 55 Monk. You can build one for less than 10k I'd wager (probably a fair amount less, but I'm not going to crunch the numbers), whereas a 55 Monk is going to run you about 60k or so to make.

20% enchant axe, soj, zealots fire, rof > echo, soj.

I can farm twice as fast the other way.

I guess that makes sense. I'm used to playing 55, where healing yourself isn't a problem.
