Ele.. And what? Mes, or Mo?
Ive been looking around, and I just cant decide. Being a monk would be nice, because I can go out and solo, heal myself, and other people. But also.. If I was a mesmer, I could.. Well.. As far as i can tell ill be really good at blocking attacks and such.
First quesion-
When being a mesmer.. Are there any really good total group hex's. Say like.. something to blind eveyone, make everyones health degenerate. You know anything like that at all?
Second-
Which build would be better for farming. Because im making this for a farmer. Almost solely to money make. Although still wanna screw around with him.
If anyone has any ideas or opinions, please send them my way.

Where did you plan to farm?
If you are going to be farming Oro/FA - look at my post in the Campfire section.
Ele/Mesmer is pretty common in the farming world, but most people prefer to take SS Necros with them, for the simple reason that SS necro is easier to play and therefore harder to screw up. There are a lot of bad Elementalists out there that don't know how to manage their energy which give a bad name to elementalists everywhere.
My suggestion would be either Ele/N or Ele/Me.
Necro gives you Shivers which you need for interrupts. Me gives you Diversion, Arcane Echo and Cry of Frustration.
Ele/Mo is a great Mission build for backup healing purposes but really isn't a farming build.

Ele/Me and Ele/Mo are pretty much the only two combos I play (none of my other characters are far past Ascalon City).
Spamming 59-point Heal Parties will occasionally save a group when the monks can't handle the pressure, and since I'm running Glyph of Energy as my Elite Maelstrom works OK as world's second-slowest disruption spell. (After Meteor Shower.)
But I'm gravitating back towards Ele/Me.
I'm also thinking of trying out Gale as an Elementalist disrupt.

I was an E/Me and now am an E/Mo.
E/Mo:
Can invincimonk.
Can take pressure off monks.
Can use the skill "Martyr" since the monks don't want to pile up conditions on themselves. (Most of them don't, anyways. There isn't really any real need to.)
E/Me:
Echo-nuker (dead?)
Haven't played much post-AoE nerf, then....
Echo Something
Energy Storage Mesmer (I don't like!)
Some random builds. like Air/Domination. They don't really exactly work like a charm, but they work.
One time, I was doing Ring of Fire. I was using a "Martyr" build I made up (although I replaced Martyr with Ether Prodigy and so the name doesn't really fit :P) (Many other people have other versions of this, this is mine). There was only 1 monk in the field, so we picked him up, and picked Mhenlo. (I'm not group leader, I wanted Lina....)
Our human monk left after both W/Mos left. I was left with an E/N, a Me/N, a R/Me (his survival skills are teh pwnage), me, and of course, stupid Mhenlo. Gotta make changes to AI, damnit. We weren't even past the first damn Ether Seal. So, Mhenlo was the sole healer of the group, with some kind of support from me.
However, he was very keen on dying.
He died twice on the Ettins, although we did survive that.
I spammed Heal Party while we crossed the lava, so no damage done to party members. However, Mhenlo insisted on crossing the lava to get me back to the rest of the group. Thinking the healer can handle his own health, I left him to his own devices. He died.
He died like 1.8984862E57 times.
We decided to disregard Kilbhron's advice, as everybody does, and went straight to the front door. Mhenlo died again. I didn't bother to rez him. He was drawing so much aggro back it wasn't funny. The W/Mos were actually more patient than him.
So I continued as the sole healer of the group, as an E/Mo. I've done this during Iron Mines, so this isn't exactly new to me, but still...
We beat the mission more easily than I ever had with a full man group.
Shows the power of the elementalist as a support character XD
(OH COME ON I ONLY HAD HEAL OTHER AND HEAL PARTY AND BREEZE!)

Earth Magic/Inspiration makes for a very solid Warder. Minimal points in Inspiration (or even none if you're careful) gives you solid Physical Resistance/Elemental Resistance spells, which mesh well with your Armour of Earth, Ward Against Melee, and Ward Against Elements. More armour for you allows you to play the front lines with the tanks, playing the front lines with the tanks allows you to keep them warded, which in turn means less pressure on the Monk to keep everyone healthy.
Occasionally Arcane Echo coupled with Crystal Wave/Aftershock can be handy, and occasionally I've used Epidemic with Signet of Midnight as a more proactive form of physical defense for my tanks.
Beyond that though, I only found my Mesmer skills reasonably useful in the rare occasions I echo-nuked with Fire. Like the Earth Magic line, the Mesmer abilities get more mileage in a support role.

If you're only planning on using your Ele class, by the way, go E/Mo for the resurrection.

I'm using a E/Mo solo farm build and it rock unbelievable, it's the main reasing why I didn't switch to E/Me, because it works for me (But I must add I don't like farming SF or UW anymore too annoying to get those items sold - too bad I don't get ecto's or shards anywhere else). But just you know I've gotten all ele green items, the 15k armors (and not the FoW one since its to ugly for Ele IMHO) and saving up now for factions, so it have broughten me a little wealth.
I guess it all depends on how you use them.

Really, the secondary class that you chose just depends on what you want your roll to be. You can be a tank (Ele/Me) using Earth and Water with Mantra of Resolve if you want to be. Ele's have the Armor spells and Stance Spells to do it. And you'd be able to do nice burst damage with fire.
Best advice I can give you ... After you ascend, get ALL the secondary classes. Because Elementalist primary can make good use of any secondary.
