Hi I have played most of the professions except I have never once dipped into the mesmer pool. I plan on using it in a pve enviroment playing around with my friends. They tell me to make a domination/illusion but I have no idea what that means. So can somebody give me a basic build thats easy to use in the pve game? Thanks in advance!

P.S. male mesmers are ugly!

Are you looking for a single build that can carry you through the PVE game? Because, in my opinion, there really isn't one. A mesmer is best off varying skills from place to place. Conjure Phantasm might be nice and dandy in the lower level areas, but is a proverbial "knife at a gunfight" against Mursaat monk bosses (not that it can't be done in combination with the right skills though).

Anyway, that's just my take on it. I'll leave it to wiser mesmers to disagree or whatever.

Rather than type a long post... I'd advise you check the link MiC posted, as well as this one:

It can give you some help on what skills are good to use, in PvE or PvP.

There are also multiple threads asking for skill combos at low level, search around for them.
