This may be the drawback of a mesmer denying energy. The foe may not have enough energy for the mesmer healing himself. Isn't?

My Me/Mo has been using Healing Breeze since pre-searing. Currently, I have Healing Prayers 9 just for a good return from HB. Ideally, I would like to drop HB and re-assign the attribute points to boost up Inspiration so I could get better use of the energy management spells. But this will mean using Ether Feast for self-healing.
I did this yesterday for a journey from Droknar to Granite. Took Lina and Alesia along for the trip and thought they'll look after me, and EF will be used in emergency. Oh boy, was I wrong. Lina and Alesia didn't heal me and I had to use EF quite alot and I died, and died and died.
There were times a foe didn't have sufficient energy to provide a good heal, or someone does a critical hit and kill my source of healing, or I'm bleeding and no foes around except for the massive, angry group waiting to be aggro-ed and I'm on my lonesome (everyone else dead).
I don't know if it's switching the method of self-healing and I'm not used to it yet, or if EF is just a not-so-good (to put it nicely) skill to use.
Does any Mesmer out there use Ether Feast? or is it a skill I shouldn't consider using?

I use either distortion or ether feast (distortion + spirit of failure, yep, it works nicely in pve too).
ether feast is really not that bad, it saved me many times.
One of the thing you must do for your healer henches is you must bring the necro hench too, as the monk hench have 0 energy management. It is also a good idea to kite in circle often in PvE, dropping the mob onto your warriors.

I feel like Ether feast is a must for the new tombs for every E/Me. You will be putting a lot of points into inspiration anyway for mantra of resolve, so bringing EF along to quickly heal from that spike damage is a good idea. I've beaten the monks on my team many times.
The thing to remember is that EF has a very long cast time. You should start casting it when you have around 60-70% health and are being aggroed by a lot of guys. By the time you are able to get EF off, you will have around 30-40 health and EF will bring you back up to around 65-75. In tombs, you should start casting it as soon as you get hit once by the grasps of chaos. Otherwise, you won't be alive by the time EF finishes casting. Then cast a quick KD like shock and meoter and back off to try to break aggro. If the monster is still attacking you, by the time they get up, EF should be recharged. It shouldn't be used for emergencies since it has such a slow cast. It should be used to keep your health steady, giving your teams monks enough time to cast protections on you and giving your warriors enough time to get back and help out.
It really is a pretty nice sized heal for 5 energy. PvE monsters seem to have a lot of energy. Just make sure you don't have an energy denial mesmer on the team and use it against stuff like wurms and grasps of chaos. Monsters with all adrenaline based skills are great to use this skill on, since they will always have sufficent energy since they don't use it in any way shape or form.
