R/X Wailng Lords Forest build solo...
OK. I know my suggestion on the R/E build didn't turn out all that great, but I've tested a R/X build and suprisingly enough... it works!
So for the equipment:
Full Druids Armour with one major vigor rune
Fiery Longbow of Defense, but you can also have a fiery shortbow for the armoured cave spiders too if you want...
Attr Points: (I haven't done either attribute point quest so here was my stats)...
Expertise - 11 + 3
Wilderness Survival - 9 + 1
Marksmanship - 8 + 1 + 1
The extra points if you have done the quests should go onto Marksmanship.
Skills:
Escape {E} - Duration 16s - 30 recharge
Lightning Reflexes -Duration 11s - 45 recharge
Whirling Defense -Duration 19s - 60 recharge
Savage Shot
Distracting Shot
Read The Wind
Troll Unguent
<FREE SLOT>
Note: When I tested the build I used throw dirt for my free slot to make killing spirit woods and spiders easier, but it was pointless me taking it seeing as I never used it . I suggest storm chaser to make the run easier or a bow attack.
Spirit Shepherds: These are very easy as long as you do not aggro them. Keep out of spell range and keep up RtW and Troll and youll be fine.
Spirit Woods: As long as you keep up your stances (order of casting is lower down the page) and troll and read the wind you can kill them easily. Distract their Troll Unguent too otherwise you will be there for a long time.
Armoured Cave Spiders: These are the toughest creatures you will face in the forest, and if you so by chance as to aggro 2, your only hope is to lure one away from the other.
Firstly, cast RtW, then troll, then escape to begin the attacking. Savage shot their apply poison, and distract their healing spring. Keep up Rtw, Troll and stances at all times, and when the spider tries to apply poison again, distract it. By now you can relax, and as long as you keep up everything, its a gonner. Watch out for healing spring 2, and all possible threat is eliminated.
Worms: Do the Same as you would with Spirit Woods, keep up troll, Rtw and a stance at all times, and interupt choking gas and soon you'll be picking up their loot.
Order of stances:
1.Escape for 16s
2.Lightning Reflexes for 11s
3.Cast Whirling Defense for 18s
4.Recast Escape
5.Recast Lightning Reflexes
6.Wait for 3 seconds
7.Cast Escape
By now over 1 1/2 minutes has elapsed, which is more than enough time to kill 2 spirit woods or one spider, IMO. But if it hasn't you'd have to tank out 14 seconds before either whirling defense or Escape is activated again, which isn't that hard to do. If you're really concerned about tanking damage, throw dirt is always an option
Here are some screenies...
I know this build isn't as good as remmeh's R/Me build, but I posted this so any sort of ranger can use it...

Well escape serves 2 purposes, one is for a running skill to get there and 2 its a key stance to survival when you get there into the forest. If you swapped that with poison arrow you'd be waiting too long for stances to recharge, which is very risky.

Hunters shot ? Sometimes its a possible replacement for poison arrow. 3 degen requires movement, but does extra damage.

why not apply poison? I would think that 4 degen (8hp/sec) would be more damage over time that RTW (8 dmg @ 10 marks every shot, 2-2.7 sec).

Free slot = Apply Poison. With 9 WS or more, it's always useful.

Another skill to consider for a free slot is Needling Shot. Once oyu have them under 50% health you can spam it as fast as you can click your mouse. Takes them down rather fast with high marksmanship.

I know ive used a R/Me in the past
Poison Arrow
Kindle Arrows
Distracting Shot
Trolls
Mantra of Lightning
Physical Resistance
Storm Chaser
Ether Fest (or Dual Shot... or Tigers Fury whatever suits your fancy)
Use a collector longbow.. with Recieve -2 damage in Stance (no i dont remember where to get it) and place a health mod, and poisoners sting on. And another Sundering Longbow of Fortitude (perfect is preferred). With Druids Armor.
Always keep Troll Unguent up (or most of the time) and the Resistance and Lightning depending on the enemy.
Thats all i remember, Sorry that i dont have more.

SOrry I'm a melee ranger but I was thinking
would sundering skills and mods be usefull here? instead of degen using some heavy hitting spells etc? Still allows you to have any elites you need for degen or anything else you want while the bow and 1 skill does decently heavy damage... just a thought, I havent sundered too much myself :/

Look for a map of FoW; its in the North West.
For the R/W who use this build, have tactics 8. put healing signet in the free slot
