"Paladin of Grenth" build ???
I may have been playing with dead things for too long, but just hear me out..
I don't have all of the skills in place (she's still only 10th level), but here's the concept; an over-armored Necromancer. Warrior primary / Necro secondary, with no Warrior skills, pure Necro. As soon as I could, I got her post-Searing, then for a tiny bit of cash, had her run straight to Drok's, got a full set of Platemail armor (90 AL), loaded it with Superior Absorption runes (fairly cheap lately), gave her an old purple Bone staff, and started slogging the Old Ascalon missions.
It's pretty funny, watching her wade into a swarm of Charr Axe Fiends at 5th level, only get hit occasionally, and eventually wipe the horde out. It's like she's her own Flesh Golem.
Aside from raw curiousity (hasn't anyone tried this before???), I think I see some potential for this build. Although, I think the biggest drawbacks so far ar the lack of Soul Reaping and actual Necro runes. At this level, It's not hurting too badly, but I don't know if it will be more of a hinderance in later levels. I've also noticed a particular sensitivity to Mesmer mobs. Also, the impenetrable armor of Ascalon may end up the tinfoil of the FoW.
While I can't see this working while trying a pure MM or SS build, I may try a combination of major Blood/minor Death, using Rotting Flesh at range, then moving in with touch-ranged Blood skills. All while acting as a back-up tank. Since I don't have SR, and won't be spending points getting skills ultra-high, I may have more points to spare in the end for Curses.
Twinked? At 11th level, I should be able to have her into the Vasburg Armory Bone Spiral/Bleached Skull set, so you'd be right. But so far, I'm enjoying the heck out of it.
Any comments? Has the stench of decay finally gone to my brain? Or the ultimate 'Second Time Through" build?
