Now, my brother was talking about how, he was worried it would be hard to keep up his enchants all the time. He told me he was swapping Prot. Spirit, for Prot. Bond on his 55 Necro (Still Unfinished.) and dropping one of the energy auras. At first I said, an IW 55 Mesmer can't afford to lose that one mana, let alone a 55 SS Necro. But it got me thinking.
I'm going to break it down into pros and cons.

So, from the looks of it, Bond seems liek the better choice.
I mean, the only reason would be for that +1 Energy Regen, which i can understand to be vital.
So, my question is, why does everyone choose Spirit over Bond, when Bond is clearly easier and more efficiant to manage.

Prot Bond was used by 55s early on if memory serves, but Prot Spirit just seems like more of a practical choice.

You can also use bonetti's defense with protective bond... I would say spirit is still better however.

Prot Spirit is also good for Divine Favor Healing which is needed sometimes when mob gets too big.

with prot bond you dont need the divine favor because at 55health the monsters only do 5% of 55 which is 2-3 damage each hit

the old prot bond build was fun lol.... old build was
u had to take points out of protections and smites and do some stuff, forgot all this though, but you could get 17 prot which would make prot bond only take away 1 energy and then u could switch back to smite
then some divine
prot bond
zealots fire
balth aura
symbol of wrath
divine boon <--- spammed for heals+dmg from zealots
essence bond
balth spirit
bonnettis def
worked like a charm back in the day of no aoe nerf and no nightmares

This works, however, you REQUIRE A PARTNER for it to.
You need some one to cast succor on you, and you yourself need to bring peace and harmony + essence bond and baltazar aura. This lack of spell breaker can be countered by using spell shield.

I have a 3 man build that works almost anywhere, we use protective bond purely for the purpose of it being a maintained enchant, meaning that the person who is maintaining it can spam ether prodigy while never going close enough to get the enemies to aggro him.
