Phantom Pain expiring is bad though, you loose the 75+ damage you'd get from shattering and the deep wound goes off quite fast... *cough*mendailment*cough*
Now, wastrels with soul barbs... thats a machinegunnuker I can live with

Mesmers are really your local piss you off build (which is a good thing, don't get the wrong end of what I'm saying).
You can totally shutdown an enemy, or annoy the hell for enemy Monks and allies of them as they have to waste energy healing someone who's degen'd while the actual killers/spikers can do all the damage, so Mesmers are kinda like;
- amma gonna shut j00 down
- amma gonna piss you off
- oo monk here, let's annoy the living daylights *backfireee, migraineee, power spike, arcane conodrum, energy drainnnn*
Generally Mesmers are quite funny to play with.

To quote/paraphrase something I once saw:
A monk is loved by all, and knows if he did a good job when people compliment him with," Good healing, we've got a good monk."
A mesmer is hated by all, and knows if he did a good job when people compliment him with, "I $@%# HATE you, you $@#% mesmer!"

When I started playing mesmer I was big on Illusion but lately I've noticed that Domination yields much higher impact and damage in PvP. I've now switched to Domination. Inspiration will always be a secondary/support attribute to me.

I had a ranger give up and start dancing... no one was attacking him, he was in a corner dancing. I believe it was followed with "you are a !#%$@".

Yep, Mesmer have become the most hated class in the game. I'd have times when I'd be on a team with 2 monks in arena and everyone would go for me instead of the monks. There's like a growing animosity towards us mesmers. The biggest thing is nobody understands mesmers and even fewer know how to play as mesmer. If you look at the forum index for the mesmer section, you'll see there are barely anyone viewing the mesmer forum compared to any of the others.

GENIUS!
Best laugh I've had all day - truth is, I actually think that when I'm playing as my mesmer. I started as a mesmer a couple of days ago - one of the best decisions I've made. My train of thought usually is:
Whoa, slow down there warriors...Just chill...
No No Mr Monk, no healing required today...
What's that Afflicted Ritualist?....You're using 'Flesh of my Flesh'?...no no no... *interrupt*
SUCH good fun!

Quite honestly no mesmer skills are better than others, just better for certain situations, foes, maps, circumstances, etc... The mesmer is all about having the right tools for the job at hand. So I would ask you, what are you trying to build your mesmer to do? That will determine the skills you need to acquire. If you cannot answer that question, then my answer to you is you require both lines so that you can build for any situation.
