my sword builds
This is just some ideas on warrior builds. I have played a sin and a war. The sin does far more upfront damage but the warrior is more sturdy and easier to play by far. What I’m thinking about here is how to make a warrior do better up-front damage (like a sin), while maintaining it superior defense. Here are some builds I have been playing around with:
In all the builds I will have two “utility slots”. These utility slots are as follows:
Utility A: Fast / Slow (siphon speed / hamstring / sprint / anything that cripples or shadowsteps) Utility A is for PvP only. Utility A is essential for escaping and catching kiters.
Utility B: Res Sig / Wild Blow / Disrupting Strike / Plague Touch / anything that interrupts, resurrects, or transfers/ends conditions. In PvP, Utility B skills are more dependant on the type of arena and type of opponent.
Now for the builds.
Swords:
I have been playing with sword builds which are probably rather standard or close to standard. They both do high DPS, but not very high. 2 standard high(er) DPS sword builds:
Tactics 15
Swords 13
Strength 3
(you can also go Sword 15, Tactics 13 but I prefer the other way around)
A: The Deep Wounder
Server Artery
Gash
Thrill of Victory
Dragon Slash
Deadly Riposte
Utility A
Utility B or Bonetti’s Defense or For Great Justice
Healing Sig
B: The Constant DPSer
Galrath
Final Thrust
Thrill of Victory
Dragon Slash
Deadly Riposte
Utility A
Utility B or Bonetti’s Defense or For Great Justice
Healing Sig
Why so high tactics? Well, in the tactics line you got your main heal. You also have Deadly Riposte. That single skill pretty much nullifies noob sins that attack you (I say noob sins because good sins should be zipping in to kill the softies, not hit the hard warrior). It does wonders against other warriors (EXCEPTION: DO NOT USE AGAINST HAMMER WARRIOR). Bleeding + 60+ damage + a block. If you use Benetti’s defense, activate Deadly riposte first to get the free +5 energy. Thrill of victory has like +40 damage to it and the situation (more health than opponent) is usually easy to meet. Also, adding in energy skills with adrenaline skills, the adrenaline charges faster.
Both the above builds are pretty standard though, minus the Thrill of Victory.
Here is a build I have been playing with recently:
C: The Bully
Tactics 15
Swords 13
Strength 3
Shove
Thrill of Victory
Gash
Silverwing
Deadly Riposte
Utility A
Utility B or Bonetti’s Defense
Healing Sig
This is a general purpose build. Idea here is to be able to inflict some very good up-front damage with some DPS. Shove at 15 tactics is touch skill, does 75 health, and knocks down (also disables non-attack skills for 5 seconds and you loose all adrenaline). You either open or finish with this + Thrill of victory (which is +40). So at the beginning of the fight, opponent is down more than 120 healthYou only use gash on another warrior or sin after they hit you and started bleeding after Deadly riposte. Silverwing is a mid-attack DPS skill for longer battles.
This build has been better for me than the more standard dragon slash builds because it delivers more damage up-front. I guess you can do the same thing (minus Deadly Riposte) with a hammer build and add in Crushing Blow and some other hammer skills. That would truelly do insane upfront spike.
[disclaimer – I have not tried axe builds because I need to spend a long time before I can get Eviscerate. I don’t have enough money to buy hammer skills or a good hammer ATM]
I have just thought of the following build, but I have not tried it because…again…no money and the elite is hard to get for characters starting in Cantha:
D: No Adren Warrior
Sword 14
Tactics 8
Strength 12 or so
Flourish
Bull Strike
Pure Strike
Jaizhenju strike
Hamstring
Utility A
Utility B
Heal Sig
Energy based attacks, each with at least 8 seconds recharge. This would be the ultimate up-front damage for a warrior. No waiting for adrenaline to build up. Just go out ant hit with multiple un-blockable attacks, and a knockdown. Haven’t tried it yet. But it looks good to me.
