Default Need help with Ranger

Hello everyone,
I started a ranger last week, now, he reached level 20 and I would like to ask you guys what the bar for a ranger runner. I'm seeking to get my 100% exploration point and also to explore the land and find treasures for my other titles. I appreciate your help.

Try Guildwiki:

or the Ranger sub-forum:

The skills I use for running are.....Storm chaser, Dodge, Lightening Reflex, Escape and Run as one. The last one works even if you don't have a pet.

If you can't make your own build for a Ranger runner (after reading up some ranger skills on wiki) then you don't deserve to be using a ranger...

Making a ranger runner is pretty simple. Just bring a condition remover, hex remover, self heal, and some running skills. R/Mo with Heal Area/Heal Breeze works well enough as well as mending.

Lol, Mending. Good call Archon.

I use:

Holy Viel
Contemplation of Purity
Purge Conditions
Troll Unguent
Dodge
Zojun's Haste
Escape {E}
<Flex>

If you don't have/can't get certain skills, just switch around with whatever is close.

To add to Sha Noran's post: indeed Escape + Dodge + its Factions clone Zohun's Haste are all what you need to have a 33% speed boost up all the time, so you have 5 slots free for hex/condition removal and self-healing. The choice of the skills depends on the map.

Escape is only 25% boost in speed, as far as I know. My problem with ranger runners is that they can take hex removal, or balanced stance, but not both. This prevents them from running a lot of high end areas, especially with the new, improved, completely worthless AI.
That being said, I think they can run faster than any other class thanks to Zojun's Haste and Dodge. As stated before, all you really need is to throw in Escape for a constant speed boost - but keep in mind that you could easily do the same with Storm Chaser, or even Natural Stride. (I think that's what it's called)

If you use another skill besides escape, you free up your elite slot and add some potential coolness to your running build. I guess people that post here and ask for builds to be made for them don't care about that too much, though.

I'm glad someone else mentioned the need for balanced stance... the droks run for example, good luck without it. (And yes, it can be done with a ranger).

I run R/W for the balanced stance and Charge skills. It sucks not having holy veil or purge conditions, but you can find creative ways around that. Plus any running set that doesnt include troll unguent is silly. Its a great non-removable skill that counters hexes and makes for shorter down-time between mobs.

Don't forget that part of the reason for Escape is because it, along with Dodge and ZH, is based on Expertise, not Wilderness Survival. Oh, and the 75% evasion is very nice.

My running build is usually:

Expertise: 11+2
Wilderness Survival: 10+1
Healing Prayers: 10

Dodge
ZH
Escape
Troll Unguent
Healing Breeze
Heal Area
Holy Veil
Purge Conditions

Not having an anti-KD skill is incredibly irritating, but for almost any area, this build works fine because the heal and evasion are enough to tank any KD. For areas where anti-KD is a must, I prefer:

Expertise: 11+2
Wind Prayers: 10
Earth Prayers: 10

Dodge
ZH
Escape
Featherfoot Grace
Fleeting Stability
Pious Restoration
Conviction
Signet of Pious Light

With this build, you have to be careful that you can remove the Fleeting Stability with Signet or Pious before it expires. Although there isn't a great anti-cripple skill for either Dervish or Ranger, Grace does an okay job, plus adds to your running ability.

Of course I didn't forget, but there's a reason I didn't with the mention. It doesn't matter too much really. What hurts you on a ranger runner are knock downs and hexes, not melee characters. The only part of the forge run where it would be REMOTELY useful is in Snake Dance with all the giants, but guess what - you need Balanced Stance more.

storm chaser
escape
dodge
lightning reflexes
troll
healing breeze
mending
...something here...

running above 24% all the time....troll is mandatory....lightning reflexes against melee while not pumping speed...good enough for any part of the world map except for one run...

the droks run...the rest....i can assure you it can run everything...

Personally I think Ranger is one of the best classes in the game for running. R/Mo is really good I think, and R/W might be good too.

ok everyone a ranger runner does not use wilderness at all noobish wildereness is for trapping and pvp and such i repeat dont use any wildereness skills all 16 exp and 13healing prayers is the best

and balanced stance dont need it for roks do it fine without it dodge and esacpe allow most attacks to miss that knock you down

then use mending, holy veil, healing breeze purge cond and smite hex(or wirling d, or throw dirt) along with 3 exp running skills doage esacpe and z haste thats all you will need to run

you only need Escape/dodge/zojuns haste for running, rest is free
some prefer having a slow but unremovable healing like TU and invest in ws, others just take 12 healing and take HB

I wonder if this interesting example of e-spelling was worth the thread necromancy. However I'm surprised the very experienced player you seem to be doesn't know you cannot use runes of your secondary profession...

I read on guildwiki that the fastest runner uses Dash-Zojun's-Dodge... that frees up an elite.
