NO!!! I ran again tonight and nothing. I have no messages saying I'm overfarming. However I've had no drops again. Now I've farmed UW before and had nothing for 5 runs once but now I've run it nearly 20 times and had no drops. THIS IS NOT NORMAL! Before I was maybe averaging 1 ecto every run. Sometimes I would go a couple of runs with nothing, then get 2 ecto's in 1 run. But now I'm getting nothing. 20 runs without anything is ridiculous!

well i don't know if its just my bad luck or what

a lot of runs r turning up empty those smites havn't been generous toward me latley

even i have that ecto drop rate is lowered for me too, what i mean with even i experienced it is the fact that i never got lucky in my whole experience in Guildwars. i think my account is flagged with bad luck or something. when i farm a specific spot i get like 2K a run(im not telling wich spot cause when i finaly find a spot to farm wich gives me money GW nerfs it) and if a buddy of mine farms the same spot with same build and gets like 6K a run.

the ecto drop rate hasnt changed, u just need to go diff places sometime to reset the code, so far today ive had 4 from 1 run and 1 from another, and 2 from another.

and all im killing is grasping and smites, build dont handle the attaxe too well lol.

but i dont know why people are complaining about ecto drops because i go in 15 mins, with a chance of ectos, if i dont get i still make 3-4k from items, so the run pays for itself imho so stop the whine :P

True. Yesterday I had back to back runs with no ecto then I get a 5 ecto run. It's random luck. I would say overall I average about 1 ecto per run. The guys doing 10-20 runs with no ecto, well I just feel bad for you. The most runs I've done (in a row) with no ecto is like 2 or 3 then I start getting at least 1 or 2 ecto again.

Had a run with 2 ecto earlier... which is alot different than from the other 35 runs of nothing. Then did another run a few hours later, got 1 Sapphire, 1 Ruby and 1 14/-5 r9 Storm Bow.... and still no ecto, lol.

For the love of GOD when will you people wake the hell up and realise that how much everyone ELSE farms something DOES NOT effect the drop rate. This has been tried and proven countless times by countless farmers, PvE guilds and bored PvPers.

If everyone farms ectos, the price of ectos drops as people try to sell theres. More people buy, people farm more, they price drops. This HAS happened to Shards.

However, I am gonna guess the smite drop rate of ectos has dropped. Ecto prices are rising and the smite run is the MAIN run solo-ed. Hell I solo it with a Warrior.

I think it could be to offset the number of 10-minute-farm runs that exist for the UW, even post-nerf. If people get bored of not getting ectos and stop, the price will drop as people are forced to buy from material traders, and players lower their own to compete.

I want 3k/shard back again

as i said, drops are not nerfed, just luck, this was from 1 run just i didnt finish as the nm popped up when i had 2 smite groups left and was in aggro lol

wow nice run starlitesunset! my best run is 3 ectos...don't know how you guys get so lucky with the 4 ecto runs. but anyways...the droprate isn't nerfed...smites have a <2% chance of dropping an ecto. there are about what 50 smites to kill so I would hope you have a fair shot at getting 1 ecto. sometimes your lucky and get more sometimes your real unlucky and you get zero. if you think you have triggered the farm code then go do a couple of missions then come back. you won't always get the farm code popup when you overfarm.

Random drops ofcourse..... but if you've done enough runs you notice an average pattern with the drops in the smite area.

My experience is that before the wintersday update, I used to get atleast 1 ecto from a "complete smite run" an average of 2 and a rare 3 ecto "full smite run".

After the wintersday update there were consecutive runs with Zero ecto drops....

on a side note : I remember the incident where I was soloing fow for shards and noticed that none were dropping for a few days... sure enough anet patched soon after and in the official update page they said "fixed a bug that prevented shards from droppping in F.O.W"

Threads like this are good because eventually an anet member will stumble upon it and have the concern fixed.....

After getting 0 drops for hours on end i took to Kirin farming. The drop rate seems to be back to normal now. Had 4 ecto, 1 ruby and 1 sapphire in the last few runs. Although that might be because i'm not farming it as often due to a shitty university shared connection leaving me with ~1s ping for the majority of the time.

FoW drops are been weird lately too. Did an 8man trip yesterday, cleared half the battlefield, did the Forgemaster and cleared the Beach. In total, 2 shards between us. After numerous disconnects/leavers we were down to 5 by the time we finished. So i went to clear the forest once we decided to call it quits. Cleared 2/3-3/4 of it (before i accidently lured with a Shortbow and got myself killed) and got 4 shards and a key (that i died before reaching). Total time for the 8man trip. 2-3 hours, 0 shards. Total time in the forest, 20 minutes, 4 shards.

Its no wonder people solo farm everything when the drop rates are that shockingly bad.

its all random man. And besides Ectoplasm is suppose to be rare... Right?
when I got nightfall I was bombarded with non max gold weapons/shields
but Its all random what the AI drops.
