overall, in pve rits and mesmers are pretty hard to find.
on the other hand, i believe the single hardest things to find in GW are GOOD warriors, monks, assassins.
the problem is that there are so many warriors and assassins its just hard to judge...as for monks; its a tossup. more often than not; good (non-farming) monks advance very quikly, so you wont find too many; but when you do, you can finish 2-3 missions back to back.
necros that actually know how to play a necro (as in; not use a cookie-cutter/brainless MM build) are also fairly hard to come by.
on the other hand, most non-brainless necros have a hard time getting groups, because people are too stupid to realize the power of a good blood, curse or (non-mm) death necro.

Rits are actually the least played in PvP as well. Their spirits get killed hard in GvG and HoH. Mesmers are very popular in that area.

Nothing wrong with Hero monks if setup properly and equipped well. In fact, most proper Hero monks will beat a human almost every time because of the faster reflexes of a computer.
And I don't think the GD swearing is necessary.

Mesmers used to be very rare but nowadays i see alot of them(including myslef xD).
Rit's are the greatest support porfession but it's just that ppl doesn't know about it and thinks that they suck because they aren't restoration Rit's...
Now with NF why would anyone want to make a factions character and play through that booring factions story again
Atleast that's the reason i don't make a Rit on my primary account..
bah that was offtopic..
Whatever i think Rit's are rarest too.. and assassins second.. or the other way around.. i'm not sure

Yeh definetly the mesmer and rit even though IMO these are two of the most powerful classes in Guild Wars. I guess its just that people dont want to have to think as much as they would be forced to with these proffessions

And I've never heard anything but compliments about my monking...). though I agree on healing Breeze, anybody caught using that should be slapped across the face, the same applies on Warriors using Heal Sig... I've rage quit on one of those before because he wouldn't stop using it (Same goes for troll Unguent while we're on that matter...).
|
I agree with most of those points, except about Healing Signet. If a warrior knows how to properly use it (outside of battle or while in a defensive stance), it's fine and it is a great skill. Rage-quitting on a group just because they're using a skill that you don't fully understand or think has any positive sides to it doesn't make them a noob or an un-skilled player. They just play differently than you and you could possibly learn something if you give them a chance.
And I won't take most monks that I don't know even if they ask to join. I trust hero's/henchman over regular PUG monks (no matter what kind of armor they're wearing or title they're wearing) because more often than not, PUG monks have no idea what they're doing, rage-quit on a group for reasons like you listed above, or just plain don't even care about what they're doing and will either go afk during a battle or not pay attention at all. Overall, I take Hero's/Henchman almost everywhere I go instead of random PUG people. Yes, I'll take guild mates and friends with me, but that's about it. I've finished all of Nightfall mostly with all Hero's/Henchman and 1 other guild mate on 3 of my characters now. And we had very VERY few problems getting through it and were some of the very first people to finish.
As far as the rarest class, I have to say mesmers. I see ritualists everywhere, but I hardly ever see mesmers and they're an extraordinary class. It is so hard for mine to get a group because people say that mesmers are "useless". I want to know how a good interrupt/illusion/domination mesmer is any more useless than a W/Mo spamming Frenzy + Healing Signet. =/

As a Mesmer (my bro plays a rit), I can agree with the above concept. If we get more specific, It seems to me there are a few more female Mesmers than Males, and probably more male Rits than female rits.
I've yet to see "GLF 1 Mesmer, Ritualist"
When that occurs, I'll let you guys know...

In PVE I'd definetly say Mesmer's are the least played in core class. Ritualist's are the least played at any time if you factor in all three chapters.

If we're talking PvE, you're right. There's little reason to be a PRIMARY mesmer in PvE, and the kind of person who uses mesmer skills is likely to figure that out.
What's more, in PvE your team is at times outnumbered, and mesmers are one of the least scalable classes in terms of fighting multiple enemies at once. (The same is true of assassins.)

I'm currently doing the Nightfall campaign, and I see VERY few of those classes...
In RA and TA ritualist are more present though...

I joined a PuG yesterday, and someone said - how can you heal as a Ranger?
I explained to them that I was a Ritualist, and they said "a what"? Is that some kind of necromancer?
Needless to say, they learned a new appreciation for the healing powers of a Ritualist, when I solo healed the entire party through the Ring of Fire mission/bonus...

I would say Assassin and Mesmer as you can still see Rits around although in PvP memsers are very popular.

You must sit in Internation Districts of unpopulated towns like Maguuma Stade or Chabhabek Village or whatever it's called.....I've seen over 300 Ritualists....also about 300 Mesmers too....and almost all Warriors get me through the missions.....and I never have AFKing Monks except once in RA.....Maybe I'm jsut lucky

Mesmers and Ritualists are perceived as rare.
First, they don't get invited into any group, unless by mistake.
Second, both of those professions work. They work so well, that those that play them do not humiliate themselves with joining unwashed masses that are PUGs, but simple breeze through the game with heroes, not even breaking a sweat.
Many very experienced players play Ritualists and Mesmers, and they simply find the game easier and faster with hero/hench. Main reason for this is that both of these classes require different group dynamics. An offensive spirit ritualist is a one person spiking machine. A mesmer can tear spiking casters apart before an ele finishes casting MS. They can also kill a dervish in two seconds, before melee even runs into range. But both require completely different agro management, and different combat flow.
So, simply put, it's not worth trying to get into PUGs, or even advertise your presence. Simply play without hassle.
But they aren't rare. Just subtle.
