Well if your going for swords then a minor/major sword rune is needed (you can go superior). As well as a Superior Absorption (on your chest). minor tactics and strength, and a vigor of some sort.

That's what I use. Watch out when you [wiki]Frenzy[/wiki] though, and DON'T [wiki]Frenzy[/wiki] and [wiki]Healing Signet[/wiki] at the same time.

Superior Absorbtion runes are global and don't require being placed on the chest. They are equally effective no matter where you put them. Anyway, Warriors usually take a Superior Vigor (it's likely that you won't be able to afford one of these, so just use a less powerful one), Superior Absorbtion, Minor Tactics, Minor Strength, and Superior Swordsmanship on the helmet (because you should have a Swordsmanship bonus on your helmet). Putting it on the helmet is useful, because if you're like me and swap weapons alot, you only need to swap the helmet, instead of the helmet and whichever piece you put the rune on. I don't see a reason why you shouldn't take a Superior Swordsmanship rune, because imo PvE is about DPS and a crappier rune will just lower that.

So, if PvE is about DPS, then you want a build that maximises DPS. Here's what I use:

[card]Sun and Moon Slash[/card]
[card]Standing Slash[/card]
[card]Galrath Slash[/card]
[card]Silverwing Slash[/card]
[card]Dragon Slash[/card]
[card]Flail[/card]
[card]Healing Signet[/card] OR [card]Lion's Comfort[/card]
[card]Resurrection Signet[/card] OR [card]Rebirth[/card]

My rune combo on all characters goes as thus so I can interchange armor without f**king things up.

Head: Rune matching attribute of hat, normally Minor or Superior
Chest: Vigor, best possible
Hands: Minor Primary Attribute
Leggings: "Survival attribute" rune (aka Shadow for Sin, Absorption for War, Wilderness for Ranger)
Feet: Open, nowadays it's either Vitae or Attunement.

Alternately, you can switch Standing Slash, Galrath Slash or Silverwing Slash (any two of them) with Sever Artery and Gash, so you get a Deep Wound.
