Concept Build
Well I have decided to give Paragon another go, even though they seem to have been nerfed severely if the posts are any indication. I am going to restart mine and go for Legendary Survivor but the main reason for the paragon are:
a> survivablity
b> armor (love the looks of the white armor with golden)
c> like being an underdog
So I want to do a Paragon/Ranger, beast master. I just want a white tiger as a pet hence the ranger.
Here is my proposed build, any input would be appreciated.
[skill]"Go for the Eyes!"[/skill][skill]Anthem of Flame[/skill][skill]Vicious Attack[/skill][skill]Spear of Lightning[/skill][skill]Heal As One[/skill][skill]Charm Animal[/skill][skill]"Fall Back!"[/skill][skill]Signet of Return[/skill]
Now I know it doesn't have a res, but going for survivor I figure if my heroes start dieing enough that I'm the only one able to res I probably should just get out of there and come back later.
Attributes:
Spear Mastery - 12
Leadership - 8
Beast Mastery - 10
Rest in Command
See no real use for leadership with this build since my mana should be a real problem. Any suggestions?
*Posted the build I am running now, until I can come up with something better. Thanks for the advice guys, has helped quite a bit, currently looking to go capture a bear pet for the proc, just wish a white tiger could do the same just for looks

I like it, one correction though. Use [skill]Comfort Animal[/skill] over Revive Animal. Cause it allows you to heal during battle as well as rez your pet

I hope you're not relying on the outdated skill descriptions on guru skill icons.
[skill=text]Rampage As One[/skill] lasts 11s at 10 BM. I don't see how that can be kept up for over 2 cycles considering u won't be getting energy back from leadership. Also, [skill=text]"Stand Your Ground!"[/skill] now costs 15e.
Leadership for the para is like Expertise for the ranger. It's the best source of e-mgmt.
IMO, you need atleast 8-12 in Leadership to offset the 2 pips of e-regen of the para. Decent leadership will help with [skill=text]Aggressive Refrain[/skill] which is a better IAS for a para than RaO.
[skill=text]Mighty Throw[skill] (takes .75s longer than a regular attack while an IAS is active) and [skill=text]Vicious Attack[skill] (combines very well with GFTE) are slightly better spear attack choices imo.
Another suggestion: Get a bear as a pet. Put Blazing Finale on it.
A self-heal (or atleast a running skill) is also a must if you're going for the legendary survivor title. I like [skill=text]Heal As One[skill] if you have decent BM.
So that means:
Charm Animal, Heal As One {E}, Aggressive Refrain, Mighty Throw, Vicious Attack, GFTE, Run As One/Blazing Finale/SYG! (or whatever you like).
Attributes: Leader 8 + 1 + 3, Command 9 + 1, Spear 9 + 1, BM 10

After reading these posts and trying out part of the build (haven't captured any elites on him) I grossly underestimated the need for leadership. So am retooling it to include it for mana, will see how it goes. Giving agressive refrain a shot, seems pretty good but I findmyself doing shouts while running between fights just to keep it going, anthem of flame seems good for this.

energy requirements are a bit high for the para

comfort animal is much better for what your after. you can have someone else deathlevel you up a level 20 dire pet in 3-4 hours, but u will need tobe careful how its done.
RAO is too expensive..
otherwise looks ok, u should bring a res tho, the rebirthalike sunspear res sig, or the paragon res will suit your needs well

Took the advice that was given and came up with this build, it's not bad. Just have to get a bear and start leveling it so anthem works off the pet as well. Also am considering changing lightning spear out for an attack that works off adrenaline. Seems to be a waste of having only one adrenaline based skill in a build.

It now looks a lot like the build I posted a while back....
you can really do well with the pressure capabilities of the maxed pet and spear atributes:
[card]tiger's fury[/card] [card]poisonous bite[/card] [card]barbed spear[/card] [card]blazing spear[/card] [OPTIONAL] [card]heal as one[/card] [card]charm animal[/card] [card]resurrection signet[/card]
you can throw in a few command skills if your playing ab.. but otherwise i use
16 spear
12 beast

Keeping aggressive refrain up between fights can be a pain. Oftentimes, it better to just let it expire, then use it about 10s before getting into a fight. Use AoF and Vicious attack at the start of the fight to make sure aggressive refrain doesn't expire and it should then stay on for the duration of the fight.
A +5e spear and a + energy offhand (gingerbread focus, even) can be used at the beginning of a fight if you're running low on energy from aggressive refrain.
You can also put a shout or two on your heroes to help keep aggressive refrain up. Or take a warrior hench with Charge!
You may have already thought about this: Since you're going for survivor, use just minor runes (spear, leadership, & command), a sup vigor, and a rune of vitae. Use a Centurion's Insignia on each armor piece.
Bear in mind you won't be getting the full benefit of your shield due to not having enough pts in command, so your AL is slightly lower than usual.
