Default Me/Rt spike healing?

Now that restoration has been buffed a bit, could the Restoration line be used on say, a Mesmer to heal? The main weakness is the 1 second cast times.

Problems fixed:
-cast time
-useless of primary attribute for a non-spirit based rit

Problems I forsee:
-energy
-not able to max out Restoration to 16
-no use of spirits

I play both a mesmer and ritualist, and am currently working just that question. lol
I know why you didn't post this in the mesmer forum, because it's dead in there!
I'll let you know what I find out with my testing.

Okay, this is not so hot then, but it's all I could find.
Fast Casting -11+3+1
Inspiration-6+1
Restoration-12

[skill]Mantra of Recovery[/skill][skill]Channeling[/skill][skill]Auspicious Incantation[/skill][skill]Arcane Echo[/skill][skill]Soothing Memories[/skill][skill]Spirit Light[/skill][skill]Generous Was Tsungrai[/skill][skill]Flesh of My Flesh[/skill]

Cast Channeling, Generous, Mantra, then Auspicous, Arcane Echo then the healing spell needed the most...soothing for energy management, spirit light for high healing. This leaves a huge downtime when Arcane Echo wears out!
You need to really keep Generous up all the time to heal the sac from using two Spirit Lights that fast!
I guess if you have an Me/Rt in PVE and you really need to heal it would be okay, but there are better ways for a mesmer to heal. The real problem is lack of utility.

I kinda detest using Arcane Echo this way. Using 5 skills just to spam soothing memories for 20 seconds just doesn't feel right to me. Moreover spirit light really puts a dent on your health since you have no spirits. So if you replaced languor and echo with something else you couldconsider other possibilities than GwS. I have personally become somewhat fond of the new Protective was Kaolai: 24AL while holding and partywide heal when dropped.

I was really struggling there. I honestly don't know how to spike heal with that combo.

Going spiritless, how about 14-16 Fast Casting, 12 Restoration build like this?

[skill]Power Return[/skill][skill]Weapon of Warding[/skill][skill]Wielder's Boon[/skill][skill]Soothing Memories[/skill][skill]Mantra of Recovery[/skill][skill]Protective was Kaolai[/skill][skill]Generous was Tsungrai[/skill][skill]Flesh of My Flesh[/skill]

So firstly, you have 50% recast times under MoR and very high fast casting. Lets say 15FC, that's 50% cast times. PR is a very fast recharging interrupt for damage disruption, then you have WoW as a 1/2s cast unstrippable prot, WB is virtually instant and recharges in 2s under MoR, SM costs 2e and has 1/2s cast, 2.5s recharge, then you've got MoR itself, an armour/heal party on a 10s recharge, a huge self heal/life booster on a 7.5s recharge and finally the fastest hard rez in the game coming in at a 2s cast, with GwT there to boost your life beforehand and give you an instant heal after. Who needs RezSig with this?

How 'bout the Moderators put this in the Mesmer forum where it belongs? Sorry to sound like a jerk, but if it's a Mesmer healing thread, it should go in the Mesmer forum. Asking us about what some good Ritualist healing skills are would be okay, but fiddle with builds in your own realm, please.

Yeah, it should be moved, but I said in my answer to the OP that I understood why he asked here. The mesmer forums at gwguru are like a deserted western town. lol
I visit them everyday and usually only see tumbleweeds going through nowadays.
Plus myself and many mesmer players I know dropped the mesmer to play ritualists lately.

The thread is mainly about ritualist skills anyway imo

Yeah for sure. The thing with Rit healers is Spawning does nothing for them. Most likely Resto healers are going to be coming from other classes that can offer somthing. The good thing about this is that all the heals and prot type spells are in one place, so a secondary Rit can use them pretty easily.

So that means I cast my vote that primes focused on using a Rit secondary for healing should be in the Rit forum.
