Protective Bond reintroduced.
So it was nerfed, eh? To uselessness, eh? I double dare you to say that again!
Simple equation:
Protective bond takes 3 energy per hit.
Essence Bond and Balthazars spirit return 2.
You should be in deep energy trouble, you should feel anguish and woe. But, mantras exist and they were buffed long time ago to give you 2 energy back whenever you are struck with elemental damage. even with zero point investment it can be kept 24/7.
Now you only need buddy with Winter and Greater Conflagration, use Mantra of Frost and even thou you loose 3 energy per hit, you regain 4, netting you +1 energy per hit.
Core of build:
Mo/Me:
Rptection Prayers: 13 (or 12 with precast equipment, this can work as Me/Mo too.)
Inspiration: 0
1. Protective Bond
2. Mantra of Frost
3. Balthazars Spirit
4. Essence Bond
5., 6., 7., 8. - you favourite way or 55hp monk healing
R/x or X/R
Wilderness Survival: 5 (5 is absolute minimum to keep both spirits up 24/7)
1. Greater Conflagration
2. Winter
3., 4., 5., 6., 7., 8. - damage, possibly non-ranger one.
---
Hint: you do not really need to use -50hp offhad with this, it allows you to use scythe and illusionary weaponry.
Hint2: ranger buddy can be Mo/R or R/Mo and can maintain Essence Bond concurently on you to gain energy too and well as maintain Balthazar spirit on you to free you one pip or regen. The same ranger buddy can maintain mending and watchfull spirit on you to give you +5 health regen (or +6 if monk primary).
Full sample build is:
Me/Mo
Protection Prayers: 11
Illusion: 12+1+3
Fastcasting: 3+3
Inspiration: 0+3
Equipment:
#1 +5e 20% enchant scythe
#2 Max damage Illusion wand, 15^50, 20% halves spell; Protection prayers offhand +1 %20, 20% halves spell.
#3 +5e 20% enchant Sword; -50hp Grim Cesta
- use set #1 to deal with groups, set #2 to cast Bond and to kill nightmares (interupt nightmares with Power Leech), #3 to single targets.
1. Protective Bond
2. Mantra of Frost
3. Essence Bond
4. Power Leech
5. Illusionary Weapon
6. Visage
7. Visage
8. Shield of Absorbtion (not up 24/7, but together with 6 regen in meantime it is enough.)
Mo/R
Wilderness Survival: 5 (you might want to move points from divine favor in here in order to have more leeway.)
Healing Prayers: 12+1
Divine Favor: 11+1+1
Protection Prayers: 2+1
Equipment:
#1 Max damage 15^50 Divine Favor wand/staff. (killing nightmares.)
1. Greater Conflagration
2. Winter
3. Balthazars Spirit
4. Essence bond
5. Mending
6. Watchfull Spirit
7. Blessed signet
8. Rebirth
role of Mo/R is completelly doable by Hero.

1. Power Leech and Illusionary Weapon are both elite.
2. why does the Mo/R have essence bond (if he isnt ranger primary, which wouldnt really work either because you lose blessed signet and would have to always be fighting to maintain your energy)? he doesnt need the energy for anything, he has blessed sig. I would personally throw on Dwaynas Kiss to make the tanking monk's job easier
how much health can a person maintain without dying... uhh in otherwords:
+20 health a second, we need something that is around 10 damage per 5% i would supposed (if he had a secondary heal of some sort)...
well what im getting at is how much max health can the mantra of frost monk maintain before losing more health than he can heal so that holy wrath could be used in conjunction with it
OR can you just cast holy wrath before prot bond and it will do max damage???

Nobody said it's *impossible* to use PB. It's just silly.
BTW way to go damage wise, you can probably kill a troll every 10 minutes.

Umm after reading your post.. I still think its useless
Reason being. How much better is it than Protective spirit.. and protective spirit can be used by a single monk only needing 1 SKILL!!
Protective Bond is still in my mind nerfed beyond usage. If Anet really wanted to bring it back they would make it a 2 energy loss, but its pretty apparent that they dont mind PB gone forever. Believe me, I'd LOVE it if they would bring PB down to a 2 energy loss at 16 or so.

Thats one of two of the best possible ways to make Prot Bond usable, but its still not worth it, especially in light of SoA.

Excuse me, I meant Stone Sheath {E}.
Mo/Me with an elementalist secondary or primary as a team mate. Hexes can be smited, but probably still more reliable than using two spirits with long cast times and recharges.

Well, imho item flexibility you gain for running on 105 (IW Scythe ...) is well worth it as well as having absolutelly no need to recast most important spells (4+2+1 24/7 regen possible from buddy, no casting here, bond stays up always.)
---
are you trying to say that SoA could allow prot bond used without isange neergy regen ... i can imagine that soa could quickly decrease damage beyond what would trigger bond, but i dont see it very reliable in, say, uw run where it takes up to 80 hits to build up absorbtion to stop aataxe damage from triggering bond.
