...because healing's what all this monk business is about... It seems the vast majority of the experienced PvP community has completely missed the obvious superiority of rits in the 11? is it? months since factions was released.
Yes, Rits have very efficient heals when they can meet the conditions. However, you will notice most of these TA monk builds have ONLY 2 !!! direct healing spells. Like, wtf man? Why the hell would you NOT take as many efficient heals as possible. Just look at HA, WoH monks like owned there.
The problem is healing touch or mend body and soul wont save you against a burst sin. The monk protection line offers unconditional prot and condition removal and monks in general are better at stopping spikes (prot spirit is ftw, and rits dont have an infuse health). Not to say rit healers in TA are useless; they are certainly viable since weapon spells can't be removed. However, they are far from making monks obsolete, partly due to the fact that they are so conditional. (of course, anet has an uncanny way of eliminating this, with nonsense such as making all nearby spirit spells->earshot of spirit)
I dont like Grasping earth in TA very much because it doesn't seem worth the slot. Monk bars there are already crowded with healing, hex control, condition control, and damage reduction, that a skill that snares nearby foes doesn't seem that useful (in ta, especially with the number of SP/BoA sins floating around). Once they switch targets it doesn't rly matter that you have grasping earth anymore (yes, you can go into proper kiting and positioning to take advantage of GE, but imo it's better to have counter to melee to begin with). And I'd rather have the monk kite a melee than say, my monk shutdown or blind bot or what have you. It's not like they'll do less dmg to a elementalist or mesmer...you still have to prot/heal it

The only time I'd really consider replacing a monk with a rit would be maybe in a TA team with NR/Traq or something along those lines. Even then, you can just use a healing monk instead of prot.

Prove plz.
Following the thread, ZB is very good in small-scale formats. I'm a bit surprised at not seeing much Signet of Devotion, but that's half player preference.

wilhelm the reason i don't use 9 tatics is cause my shield only requires 7...still max tho. Still having trouble with monking build tho. I always get to like 7 or 8 wins then poop out.
Using disciplined stance now as my substitute instead of DR.
SoR{e}
RoF
guardian
GoF
condition removal..heals for remaining conditions
Holy Viel
Shielding hands
disciplined stance
I hate when i have like two 16 minute battles then we lose at 8 wins.
9 heal....12 prot.....10 divine....9 tatics
wish they hadn't nerfed warrior defensive stances.

well, recently most of them got nice buffs, which is why some monks take disciplined stance to arenas (helps vs BHA too) because of the increased duration and shorter recharges.
imo mend ailment isn't the best option for condition removal. Dismiss is a bit more handy, and with 4 enchants in your build (not including veil) you'll prolly get the heal when it counts. Although for arenas I'm starting to really like mending touch, and mend condition for others, (instead of guardian for your build).
seen a lot of sins run expose defenses lately (perhaps b/c of all the shield bash/Disp. stance monks?) so shield bash seems to be a bit better vs that since you still get the kd and disable (I believe...haven't tested or bothered to check....that the sin falls on his arse is enough for me)

I agree that you should drop B-light and bring ZB.
This is what I run at the moment, seems to work alright - I would say it can probably use some work.
[skill]Zealous Benediction[/skill][skill]Reversal of Fortune[/skill][skill]Gift of Health[/skill][skill]Dismiss condition[/skill][skill]Return[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Dark Escape[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
The res sig is there because people cannot Res in RA it would seem, in TA with people I know - I'd probably drop my res.

okay so i bought nf but they put in the wrong access key...put in a factions one. So i went back to the store and exchanged that for BRAND NEW nf game. I take off the wrapper and type in the access key....says already in use. Some butt wipe used a key generator.
So mailed that back to NCSoft and waiting for them to mail me back a new one until then i am w/o nf but when i get it ill try out the Zb builds.
As for expose defenses yea it a major problem which is why i took BL as my elite in the first place because it will heal and remove that hex along with any condition he threw at me before i could get my defenses back up.

Expose Defenses isn't much of a threat, the BoA sin spikes are fairly slow - easy to handle.
And basically useless on me, considering I don't have guardian etc. When you time it right you can dismiss / whatever that deep wound right off you.
I also just saw you brought Aegis? I think that's a waste of energy considering you're in 4v4.
