Since I capped Prepared Shot recently, and considering bow attack skills are likely to get buffed in the future, I wondered how much damage I can do with the current attack skill stats.

For easy calculation I used this skillbar:
read the wind|prepared shot|arcing shot|screaming shot|power shot|precision shot|flail|res, 16 marksmanship, 13 expertise
Flail can be kept up constantly, and focused shot+expertise is enough e-management to use an attack skill on every attack.

mean bow damage (not counting criticals): (15+28)/2*1.15(from 16 marksmanship)*1.35(+15% and customized) = 33
attacks per second: 1/0.67(flail)/2(shortbow) * 22/24(activating RtW) = 0.69
attack skill bonus: +26 on every attack
mean attack damage: 33+10(RtW)+26=69
69*0.69=48dps
bleeding: 6dps
vampiric: 5/0.69 = 3dps
total: 57 dps, of which 33dps is armour-ignoring
with forked arrow instead of power shot it would be 60dps.

While the lack of interrupts, self heal etc make it a poor build, I was nonetheless surprised at the pretty good single-target damage you can get with it. I wouldn't run it myself though, except on a hero, since it is a rather boring build to use.

(as reference: the single-target damage of spamming searing flames+glowing gaze on recharge with mark of rodgort is ~60dps of which 14dps is armour-ignoring)

Yes but the '+ damage' IS armor ignoring, as it deals the same '+ damage' regardless of armor.

^^^For comparisson:

You could use Burning Arrow, Crossfire, and Arching Shot w/ Apply poison

And deal:

20 DPS = burning and poison
(26.67+33).5 = 30 DPS from bow skills

50 DPS from four skills, of which 33 DPS is armor ignoring. And if you added Flail it would boost your DPS to 61.

I seem to run out of energy if I use more +dmg skills than burning arrow, though it could be my generous use of savage shot...
but yes, burning arrow is lovely the way it lets you do a lot of damage in a single skill slot,
so I guess I'll have to stick to BA+apply and BHA+apply builds a bit longer.

like many others, I will also throw in the non elite, (but l337) [wiki]Keen Arrow[/wiki]. Great non-conditional armor ignoring damage, and mega-tons of extra conditional damage, I've hit for well over 150 damage on casters with it. I'd take it over arcing shot every single day of the week. In game, it's my personal opinion that this is the best pure damage non elite hands down seconded by crossfire for it's ability to nail those pesky stancers.
