I dont want my ranger to be another Storage Mule
So i made a ranger at the start of Nightfall. I had lots of fun going through Nightfall and had HIGH expectations. Now 2 months later, im bored. I rarely play her, and she doesnt have a REAl purpose to play her. The only reason im keepin her is because I was hoping i would find something but...i havent.
I was just wondering what everyone does to keep them occupied whiloe playing a ranger. Do you farm? and where? Do you run? Or something else, because I do not want to delete her.

I progressed alot on my ele but I got bored of him fast.
....You won't like every char you make, and I don't think you can force yourself to like somethin. I find my ranger alot funner to play in pvp. If you have plenty of char slots, just let the ranger collect dust. If you feel you wanna delete her, browse a few builds on wiki before doing it.

I dont know how you dont have anything to do on your ranger. There are so many possibilities! almost every Elite mission uses B/Ps! And Rangers are great runners. Become a B/P and do Urgoz's Warren, Tombs, or anything else! Unless you only have NF then you have tons of things to do!

As has been stated, Ranger B/Ps are usually needed in a few elite missions. Solo farming in UW, FoW, Stygian or duo faming some elite missions is also fun. Running builds to map, chest run or just run. Etc...
The ranger is quite versatile and fun to play, but if it isn't for you, delete, new toon.

There's so many different ways to play a ranger I don't see how you could become bored playing one. Try trapping (a good way to give your video card seizures), beast master, thumper, pack hunter, toucher, etc. I think you'd become bored of Guild Wars before getting bored of playing ranger.

eww toucher. I DESPISE that build. Well, I think I am going to get my Ele through NF and farm with him until I get FoW. Then I think I will get my Ranger through Prophecies so I can get Echo, and then trap =0 and maybe B/P just have no idea how that build runs. Thank you for the tips.

I was bored of my ranger when I finished NF with it so I did Factions and Prophecies too. It took about 2 weeks to beat both games. That was fun. I was use it to B/P SF and Tombs. I also fun my guildies and friends. I also trap in UW and I make lots of friends that way. Try to do other stuff with your ranger like B/P and you can also make money with it too. I got 2 Drago's Flatbow in 2 SF trips.
Oh yeh toucher build is fun. After i kill them I dance over them. That really ticks them off.

GuildWar's PvE strength is it's first time through, it's weakness is it's endgame.
First off, if you haven't played the other chapters - there you go. Some/many think prophecies is better, given that you have an established character with heroes for your first time factions can be quite interesting also (IMO Ranger benefit from factions more than any other class - Trapper's Focus FTW!!!). It sounds as if you haven't, or at the least have not with a ranger. Since each class play different I've found it fun with different classes. I too like prophecies more than the others and have enjoyed taking my ranger with heroes through it WAY more than I did with just a prophecies only ranger (a mini-B/P team - me and jin as a standard b/p ranger, zenmai as a critical b/p barrager, and olias as the Minion Master - the rest whatever hench I feel like).
As has been said above - farming and elite areas are pretty much all that is left after that. I would also add titles - I know I want quite a few for my dervish. After I get my ele and ranger to a point I am happy with I'll work on that. I do not plan to beat Nightfall with either the ele or ranger, but there are some elites I *really* want to cap with them (and I may beat it - do not know until I get bored with them).
Some classes I *really* enjoy playing the story line, others I *really* enjoy farming, and a very very few I *really* enjoy doing all of it (Ele and Dervish as of now, how far both get will depend on when the next chapter is released). Luckily a ranger is quite wanted in B/P teams if high end farming groups are your thing and low to mid end farming trappers are quite good.
Anyway, GW shines if you are flexible and play a number of classes. It sorta can be repetitious if you insist on one class. That is, unless that one class really fills all your needs. Since a Ranger can play many roles and is now wanted in many different areas it is a good candidate for the one character person.
Of course, there is always PvP. While I dislike most PvP many feel it is the "real" endgame. Rangers have a decent place there and you will most likely learn enough about the game there that PvE is quite a bit easier. Especially true if you get a nice guild or friends list that also PvE's on the side.

The thing is that expertise opens up so many possiblities.
You can copy any melee class with Tiger Fury + Ferocius strike or RaO
I'm not really in the mood to play my ranger right now either after I just remade har because I lost the survivor title on 800K experience :/ But I know that I'll get back to it. I always do

HAA HAA HAA I do that as Mesmer...it makes sins very VERY cross!
I personally found trapping to be very very fun...and I don't know if anyone's noticed, but my ranger started out in Elona...the background music in Elona is perfect for sneaking around and setting traps.

Some people on this forum despise other people using an elite from their secondary profession. I got that when I posted an ele build...I'd ignore them if I were you...I capped Echo so sometime I could try the same with my new Ranger.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Echo trapping (as long as it's used in the right setting, just like all builds).
@ Brandon1107:
Keep in mind that Echo is a core skill and can be capped in all chapters of GW. I capped it just south of Eternal Grove with my rangers which was a LOT easier than running around Perdition Rock and hoping that the boss even spawned.

@ OP:
Personally, I think most people tend to find a profession that they tend to prefer over others. While I personally enjoy all professions (although I find Mesmer and Assasin more enjoyable in PvP and less in PvE), I still favor ranger the most. That being said, you may be different. We could post a thousand and one things to do with your ranger, but if you simply don't enjoy the class that much, it may not mean anything and there's nothing wrong with that. Life would suck if we were all the same.
If you are still looking for things to do with your ranger outside of basic PvE missions/quests, I would suggest giving UW Trapping, Barrage/Pet (such as in Tombs of the Primordial Kings and Sorrow's Furnace), and running a look. A good ranger runner can really run just about anywhere where there's not major knockdown and do so faster than other classes. With the release of Fleeting Stability in a dervish secondary it is even possible to do the runs that were previously not possible as well (such as Droks runs).
If you want to try some different builds for general PvE missions/quests, take a look at Conjure and/or Splinter Shot barrage, Apply Poison + Burning Arrow degen builds, Glass Arrows + Dual Shot type spike builds, Apply Poison + Trap hybrid builds, full out Beast Master builds, etc.
Hope that helps.
